Nah not really. They both have different places in music. double bass is better suited for orchestra setting, and the bass guitar is just an adaption of the double bass, better for small band environments.

I react the same way to this as to pictures of toothpicks in nails.. Only worse!

I have had this happen to me. I was playing a show and my strap fell off the holder thing and i guess my schecter diamond series fell just right and broke.
Moral of story: strap locks are a good thing
(oh and i bought a new neck for that bass and it plays fine)

ive got a sexy ass fender 70's reissue jazz bass with the maple neck, rosewood frets, and white bindings. its the nicest instrument ive ever owned (out of 8) and one of the nicest ive ever played. i would kill a dozen people if my headstock broke off.
