overweight fees don't really have to do with the planes weight, rather the fact that any particular person working there has to lift the bag over their head and into the plane, 60 times a flight, the idea being that if everyone has 100 pound bags the worker could get injured

The spaceshuttle is contributing aerodynamicly and thereby resulting in more lift - your fat ass and your bag is not

Does anybody else think they need to put a smaller plane on top of the shuttle, and then a car on top of the plane and then a bike on top of the car?

the 747 was originally built to carry the space shuttle because it would be much faster to fly the fucker than to slowly drive it on the few roads strong enough to not break open under the weight.
