I couldn't care less about what kind of system you use to calculate your things, but don't brag about some people living in your country going to the moon, especially since you probably didn't help doing so at all. It's not a race anymore, you don't see me bragging about Christer Fuglesang going in to space just because i'm swedish

think about this: if you were a machinist(or some similar job that requires cutting out something to a specific length) and you were handed a drawing from Europe that has all these different measerents in mm or cm, it would reduce the production time of the company if you needed to calculate every unit to inches

what you, and most Americans, fail to realize is that your country isn't perfect. Sure, it WAS a great country back during the cold war, just like England was a hundred years ago. You are not anymore.
Your educational system is a joke.
The US healthcare system is broke.
Although your military is probably the best in the world when it comes to invading another country, you have no idea how to run a peace mission. Seriously, other military's makes jokes about yours, having completed the draft in my own country (Denmark, know for having elite soldiers that are excellent at peace missions.)
You have almost singlehandedly caused the world wide financial crises.
And finally, your country is greatly divided on every important political issue.
So tell me again how an achievement half a century ago makes your measuring system better than ours?

Lol, allow me to make a rebuttal.
Best college/university system in the world is American, we own higher education.
Europe's healthcare systems and nanny government care as accrued an average debt per capita of $100,000, compared to the U.S. average debt of $53,000.
As for war, Europe once again takes the crown without competition. Invasions? How about two world wars, colonization that STILL leads to genocides in Africa and the Middle East. As for military, there's no question about who has the largest and most powerful. You would have to be kidding yourself to think otherwise.
As for the Financial Crises, blame your country for investing so heavily into risky U.S. bonds. The argument you made with that is like someone buying dynamite, lighting it, holding it, then getting pissed off when it blows up in their face.
As for your reaction picture:
1. There is a difference between nuclear bombs and atomic bombs.
2. Japan attacked unprovoked, and had already sunk an American naval vessel for no reason weeks prior to Pearl Harbor. After that they begged for peace, only to sneak attack later.
3. It is estimated that over 5 million would have died in a mainland invasion of Japan. The atomic bombs killed a total of 250,000. Grim, but a lot better than 5,000,000.
4. Over 100,000 marines/army personnel died fighting the Japanese. 20,000 of that total died fighitng Iwo Jima, a very tiny island close to the Japanese mainland. That's how harsh the fight was.
5. I've never heard anyone here make tsunami jokes, and America has sent more aid to Japan to help with the disaster than the rest of the world combined.
_______________________________________________
And for your last question, I never said it was better, it's different. Why you Europeans care so much about how Americans measure things is truly baffling to me. If anything is different you shit bricks and conclude it must be inferior.

What good does it do you to have the best universities when everything up until that leaves your general population unable to read?
The danish healthcare system is free. I get sick, i get treated. Yours kick out people that doesn't have healthcare or can't afford the treatment, basically giving them a death sentence.
What Europe did half a century and before that has nothing to do with my country. Denmark had next to no colonies, and the few we had are well functioning. We were neutral during the first world war, and occupied during the second.
And good job pointing out what i already said, you have the better military, however your soldiers are poorly trained and not suited for -PEACE- missions. Something you should have learned during the Vietnam war. Turns out bombing villages and forcing your politics onto people makes the occupied population rebellious.
The collapse of the US house market started the whole crisis, as it lead to bankruptcies of BANKS, which in turn caused the crises.
As for my picture
1. A nuclear bomb and an atomic bomb is one and the same thing.. They rely on nuclear fission to cause a nuclear chain reaction.
2. The dropping of the bombs were absolutely necessary, this i would never refuse. However, one would think that the bombing of major civilian cities would be amble retribution for the unprovoked bombing of a military naval base.
3.I have seen jokes about it, look at the image. While this is NOT the opinion of the average American, it is the face of America we see on the internet.
And we care about your measuring system because we have to learn it if we do any kind of business with the US, so we are taught it in school.
You never answered my question though, how does your achievements from half a century ago make your measuring system superior to ours?

Again you are basing nothing on fact. The United States has the best trained military in the world. There is currently no other country that can match the U.S. and hope to win in an all out fight. Danish forces would be obliterated before a single troop from the U.S. even had to touch Danish soil.
Our healthcare doesn't leave people on the streets to die, that's a huge misconception. Medicaid pays for people who don't make enough to get ends to meet. If you need emergency care in America, you get it. No one is ever turned away to die. Where you Europeans get that ridiculous idea I know not. You are clearly a nationalistic cunt who has no ability to see facts for what they are. You can keep your metric system, I prefer being in a country that retains it's technological and educational edge over everyone else.

Okay, since you are clearly a special kind of stupid I'm gonna stop playing nice..
The US has the best trained military in the world? Either you are joking, or you are just plain retarded. The amount of training you provide for your troops before shipping them to Afghanistan or Iraq is an embarrassment for your country. The only strength of the US army is the vast technological edge they have compared to the pheasants they are used to fighting against. The very website you referred to clearly states that the European union, if combined, would most likely beat the US, as they tie in technology, win in numbers and have a stronger economy. And yes, if you went into an all out war against Denmark you would win, big deal you outnumber us 60 to one. Also, you have vast experience fighting small defenseless countries (Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, etc..), good job being an international bully.
The few months or training you provide for your soldiers before shipping them off to the middle east is pathetic. The Danish soldiers receive at least 20 months of training before getting sent to war.
Your healthcare system does not leave people to die? So if a family man came in with his son who needed a heart transplant, he would just get one free of charge? No, he would need to have health insurance or pay a hefty amount of money, or his son would die. If the same happened in Denmark, he would get a heart, free of charge.
The'res a standing joke in the European armies
How do you kill an American soldier?
You yell "you are out of ammo, reload", and then shoot him while he reload
And i do not intend to discuss this with you any longer, you are too stupid to make a notable argument, you are clearly unable to read (I blame your pathetic educational system) as i have stated several times that you have a STRONG military that is unsuited for peacekeeping missions, yet your only reply is "HERP DERP, we haz de strongestest millitary, yours suck"

I find it hard to believe the EU, as a whole, has a stronger economy. If you include only France and Germany, and leave out the countries that are hemorrhaging money, then sure.
All jokes aside, the USA army has plenty of experience in all kinds of warfare, the problem is that we enter combat with so many ulterior motives that it mucks up the water of 'combat'. If someone was to straight up piss off the USA into all out war, you would see a vastly different side of the coin.
The heart transplant issue is a touchy one, and leads to the point of queues. There are so many people applying for transplants, and not enough hearts to go around that fit the criteria necessary to perform a successful operation. In your example, yes, under medicaid that family man would be eligible for a heart transplant. He would basically have to go bankrupt to be in medicade, but it would not be a straight 'NO'.
<Insert necessary 'herp derp im an american my country is the bestest' here>

as for the economy part, i was simply referring to the website he himself used as a source.
And yes, as i have stated numerous times (although he apparently have trouble reading so he missed this point..) the US army is STRONG, of that I have no doubt what so ever.
And the heart transplant was only an example. I will admit i do not know the specifics of your healthcare system, only that it is not free.

Really? Worst army in the world? That's rich. Care to provide any links? American soldiers spend 3 months in basic training, 6-12 months at MOS training, 1 month at basic medical training, up to another 12 months in training if they choose to go for something harder depending on the MOS. No soldier is just "shipped" off to war without adequate training. Again, where do you get these ideas? Angry your country sucks?
His point was that the measuring system is irrelevant to the technological and scientific superiority of a country. Who cares if it does not make sense to you, it got them further than any other country.
It is a simple concept of Nationalism. Why should the USA use a system fostered by countries with inferior tech? Catch up, and then they will chat chat.

They attempted to change to the metric system ages ago, but the president at the time didn't manage to go through with it. And yes, it's a question of nationalism, though i don't think that really helps, as nationalism is a stupid concept (my personal opinion, it promotes conflict and stagnation).
I stated this saying that it's an illogical and silly system, an opinion i still maintain. He then basically called my country inferior, at which point i made my (and many others) opinion of his country clear. He then assaulted me personally, at which point i simply pointed out the flaws of his statement.
Judging by the amount of thumbs i received compared to him, along with him shutting up, id say i won the argument.
And to the post you made above this one, I agree, as i have said, the bombings were justified. The Facebook posts were not, and it affects the way the rest of the world views America, and lets face it, the US isn't popular these days.

Every country has its share of kooks/dingbats/etc. Social networking just brings those idiocies to the forefront.
I guess if the USA is able to use the system effectively, there is no need to fix what is not broken. Other countries can state it is broken or nonsensical, but the USA is holding the keys to the car so to speak...
I do not agree with everything he spoke about, there are tons of problems with the USA of which I am privy to, being a resident of Connecticut I see it every day. Price of living is high, price of education continues to rise while performance decreases, and I view it as a consequence of becoming complacent. The USA is moving towards becoming all about services and less about manufacturing, sooner or later we will have a country filled with only fast-food stores and psychiatrists.

Can I just point out that although you may have a larger military (there for more expensive) It does not make it better, that point supported by the many British troops Americans have killed. Another thing the nukes you used and you looove to take all the glory for was actually designed mainly by British scientists and was given to America for testing and use.
Pic related, it's what Americans do to British troops and anyone with oil

^ Agree with above.
Also the Japanese were flat out brutal in their treatment of those around them. The Chinese in particular were butchered and raped by the Japanese army, they viewed them as less than human and IMO treated them and the surrounding countries in a worse way than the Nazis treated the Jews.
They fought to the last man for a bunch of useless volcanic rocks, and I am sure if you asked any of the families that lost those 20,000 young boys in Iwo Jima where to drop the A-Bomb, it would have been Tokyo.

I till don't see why Americans seem to think this wins any argument. "Well we've been to the Moon so we're better than everybody!" the irrelevance of your point is ridiculous.
Oh, and for the record, a lot of the rest of the world (particularly Russia) is now surpassing the US in terms of space exploration.

The same logic can be said about measurements and dates. I don't get why you Europeans care so much how we measure things. Russia is nowhere near the USA in terms of space exploration. The ESA has yet to get a man into space. China is still figuring out how to hook up to the ISS.
If you still don't believe me, look up the Orion project by NASA, designed to send astronauts to asteroids and eventually Mars. Also, Russia has a fraction of the funding NASA has, and the ESA still can't get the Ariane 5 rocket to carry a man into space. No one is even close to the U.S. in space.

When the topic of conversation is the date that something occurred then your dating system is pretty fucking relevant, I'd say. We care because it's fucking annoying having to figure out whether a date given is actually (for example) the 5th of July or the 7th of May. You are the only country that puts the date that way around and it's completely illogical.
Space exploration, however, is still a completely unrelated and pointless argument.
Space exploration, however, is still a completely unrelated and pointless argument.
The topic of conversation was deficiencies with America's way of writing down the date/measurement system. I point out a strength of America and a weakness of the rest of the world. Don't like the way we write something down? Don't come here. Think it's stupid? Good for you. Perhaps you haven't noticed, the entire argument is completely retarded. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother with Europeans who have their opinions on America set in stone who refuse to be open minded about anything coming from America. We do things how we want because it's our own country, why you care so much is absolutely absurd.
I don't have opinions on America "set in stone" I actually quite like most Americans that I know, I just happen to think that your dating system is unnecessarily different from the rest of the world. Your last point is yet another reason a lot of people don't like Americans; the whole "Well we're America so we have to be different in everything to show how awesome we are"
Not to burst your bubble, I don't really strut around bragging to people about how awesome my measurement system is, or how sweet the way I write down the date is. All I said was it's different, so why care so much? It's not your country. If people choose to not like Americans when we explain that our country is not like Europe and we do some things differently, then those people are retarded.
Yeah.. completely useless. Wireless communications developed for the Apollo missions that led to cell phones and satellite communications we enjoy today are so worthless. Developing our scientific understanding of space travel and collecting data about how the Moon formed is just plain retarded. Take pictures of deep space for analyzing to get an idea of how many galaxies surround us was retarded. The Apollo missions, and subsequent missions resulting have done more for science today than anything predating.
The russians sent the first people into space, the first spaceships into space and the first robots, for want of a better word, into space. The people on the moon is irrelevant. The communications and the data about the moon and mars had the road paved by the soviets, not the americans.
