It's a terrible thing for a country to lose one of it's soldiers. I hope everyone takes the time to remember the 6421 US soldiers, 158 Canadians, 408 British and many other soldiers from other nations around the world. May they all rest in peace.

why do they need respect for something they knew perfectly well could happen, yet chose to risk anyway?

Yeah exactly, they know that they could potentially lose their lives but they did it anyway. These men and women are brave enough to put their life on the line. Ask yourself "Do I have the balls to do what they are doing?". Once again going back to the saying "If you're not willing to stand behind our troops feel free to stand in front of them."

Yeah I'll joke about most things however, the death of a soldier or multiple soldiers is something that I would never joke about. Personally I think it's extremely disrespectful to those who are risking their lives.
