"American death toll for Afghanistan and Iraq wars as of today: 6,421 and counting."

Whenever people say this, I always feel like they're trying to make the number seem impressive, as if it was a lot of people, but when I see it, the first thing that comes to mind is: that's not very much at all, I would be happy that so few were lost over such a long time. What is it, 10 years now?

I know that each and every death in war is an awful thing, but maybe I'm just looking on the bright side of this picture. During some battles in WW2, each side lost upwards of two hundred-thousand soldiers in a matter of three months.

On a somewhat related, but off-topic note, I can't believe that people actually reenact wars. War is so horrible, the only reason it shouldn't be forgotten is so people can remember how horrible it is and hope that it's memory will prevent any future conflict. But when you have these war reenactments, these "festivals" about war, it becomes dramatized, even glamorized. People begin to forget how terrible it really is.

I largely feel the same way about war movies, but a rare few of them actually succeed in conveying the true horror of war.

The death of a brother is something that cannot be understood by someone who hasn't been through it. Be glad if you haven't, because when and if your brother dies, it will be an emotion that will never fade, a pain that strikes every day.

I know exactly how this kid feels. Last year my brother died in Afghanistan. He was K.I.A by an I.E.D. The last thing I said to him via facebook was, "Be safe."

i don't wanna be "that guy" but considering this is what year 11? we have been at war and only 6,421 deaths, that's actually pretty ******* good, we have lost more than that in single battles in our history, but regardless its 6421 people that shouldn't have died in a stupid ass war, also that being said this is funnyjunk i get enough **** like this one facebook

Not to be disrespectful or anything; a death is a death and it's sad, whether you're from the USA or from Iraq.

But why, why is this on FUNNYjunk? It's not funny. At least put it on its own channel or something.

Pic related, they might come back (just sayin')
