The church as a governing body manifestly does not necessarily represent the will of God or the original intention of Christianity. The faith teaches selflessness, compassion towards others, humility, good for the sake of good and love for all that is good.

Religion does not promote fear. It promotes faith and good doing. Although many such as Christianity establishes a "hell & heaven", it is simply making it clear that there is punishment for wrong doing. Our legal system isn't in place to keep you hiding in fear. However, it is there to remind you that unlawful actions will be punished.

Religion has been used by those who are corrupt. However, if you can name me one entity which hasn't been used to harm something else, then I would be more than happy.

I'd perfer not to start a pointless fight, but Christianity isn't mainly fear. The only fear is of hell and the devil. Christianity is mostly positive.

yeah i feel like people who are scared of God are kinda missing the point (at least in Christianity). if you only act a certain way because you fear going to Hell, you're doing it for the wrong reasons. but then again, who am i to call out any one trying to be a good person?

I think most people who have a really deep connection with God would say that they act a certain way because of the fact that God loved them so much, that He died on the cross for them. In other words, imagine if your best friend did a really big favor for you, and he asked some thing very small from you in return. You'd want to pay him back for that favor wouldn't you?, especially considering how little he's asking from you. And not only that, even when you do a shitty job returning the favor, or you take a really long time to do it, he's still your best friend. I would want to pay him back not because I fear he wouldn't like me if I didn't, but because that's the right thing to do. That's the way I look at it anyways.

They used a lunar calendar, leap years didn't apply. The difference in the time of a year was actually extremely miniscule.

Leap years occur once every 4 years.
