I love it so far. I saw the two episodes (I say two because online it was two 30 minute ones) and loved it. It would just be nice to have a character like him, someone who is older and a little witty and silly like Iroh was. Otherwise I think the show is probably going to surpass the original.

No Tenzin is way to serious. A character like Iroh would never be as good as him though.

where do people keep getting this information? I didn't know anything about life after the war was released.

A tiny bit of it comes from the first two episodes of Legend of Korra, but the more detailed stuff was in a graphic novel that was published pretty recently called "The Promise". It's basically the stuff that happened following the end of the war. Google can probably tell you more than I can.

Everyone is dead except Katara. But as of know we know that Aang has 3 sons, 2 grandaughters, 1 grandson, and another grandkid on the way. We also know that Toph had a daughter.

Not confirmed, Katara said "many of my friends are gone".

I wasn't just talking about what it said on the show though. I read up on the show some. It said Katara is the only one still alive.

Where did you read this? I was really hoping someone else survived (King Bumi, I figured Iroh was dead so no point in hoping for him)
