I was taught both of us had fought and Canada should have gotten off the pot as it was not shitting a similar magnitude to the united states. bro in WW2 if neither Canada or the States fought, the allies would have fallen, in America they may teach you that the States won WW2 not the allies forces. Here in Canada we get actual history lessons.

Canada only supplied a fraction of the forces that hit Normandy, of the 4 beaches I think the British and Canadians combined and hit 1. Although they did do a lot of the work in the Netherlands, if they had not been involved in the Normandy campaign than the american lines would have been stretched more thinly and it would have taken longer to push the Germans into Berlin. We could have done without you, but with greater loss of life.

That is just one area of battle, there were many, many, many battles. I am not saying America didn't do anything, I'm just saying that without Canada who knows how the war may have turned out, because Canada did play some crucial parts in WW2.

I was just talking about the Normandy invasion, I'm sure Canada did a lot to help shorten the war, but I don't know much about their involvement in other parts of the conflict.

Well Canada was the only one that achieved their objectives during D-Day, which led to the liberation of Holland. Germany also knew of the toughness of the Canadian soldiers and sent their best troops to oppose us. our army before the war was lets say pathetic, with only 55,000 soldiers, however by the end of the war we had sent in 1,000,000 soldiers (that includes soldiers on reserve) So America sent in way more troops yes! But Canada really stepped up for the cause

Actually the Germans had their best troops at Omaha who were vets of the Russian front (The 357th I think), and that the rest of the beaches held little casualties. By the end of the day every front had been delayed, but you are correct in the fact that the British and Canadians accomplished the most in that day. Mainly due to the fact that most of the German forces were either to the west closer inland, or to the NE at Calais. And every country had to mobilize and increase their military, and although Canada did enlarge their army a lot the US had to come out of a depression as well.

The Germans were also fooled into thinking the Canadian troops were elsewhere. So British, Canadian troops defiantly pulled the wool over their eyes. But honestly without the assistance from most allied countries, it would have been that much harder to win the war.

Everyone helped to fool the Germans into thinking we were going to invade at Calais, which was the biggest factor for the operations success, and it took them 3 days to realize that we weren't. And you are correct, we needed every man we could get to make it go smoothly.

Well now that our history lesson is over, I think we both agree that our countries, had parts in very crucial moments during WW2.
