What is this from?

Bleach. This guy's name is Tosen. He's a surprisingly badass swordsman... just watch the anime (it's surprisingly amazing, it's on Hulu and a bunch of other sites)

Read the manga as well, it's much better imo.

Agreed I think manga is always better than the anime

Usually, but if the anime follows the manga correctly, it's way cooler to watch the action.

Definitely true, what's your favorite anime/manga?
User avatar #113 to #112 - xplosevdiarrhea (04/13/2012) [-]
tough one. One Piece is definitely top 3 for anime, but it's manga is my #1. For anime it would probably have to be Trigun. It made me man cry, so it's definitely up there. I have a bad habit of forgetting what I watch, so I might have forgotten one, that and there is just so much good **** that I've seen.

I'm about at ep. 448 in the One Piece anime. It's where Luffy is about to escape Impel Down. Anyways. You said that One Piece was your nr. 3 and I would like to know the others, cause I think One Piece is pretty epic but it's also one of the only ones i've seen. I've been recommended Fairy tail and Bleech.

I recommend Beach very strongly. Also Death Note and Elfen Lied. Hellsing is interesting as well, but unfortunately ends too soon (compare Hellsing's 12 episodes with Bleach's 600+)

I'm not super well versed in anime or manga, though, so I might have left out some brilliant ones or confused genres.

Thx for your time and advice :)

But I would also like something like One Piece, you know, some action but also funny now and then (I think One Piece is hilarious from time to time). Thats sorta the genre i'm looking for, but I want to watch Bleach as well. I also want to check out Fairy Tail, everyone on the anime sites recommends it to be ''freakin' awesome!''

For your tastes, then, watch Bleach. It's like One Piece only (in my opinion) a bit more interesting and better drawn. Also, there's a less known series (Archer, I think) which you might enjoy. It's been a while since I watched it, so I don't remember it as well.

Cool, thx.

I didnt know Bleach was funny from time to time, just thought it was some serious hardcore samurai **** with the main character with that demon mask/demon personality? Who is a freakin slaughtering machine?
User avatar #281 to #280 - Hreidmar (04/13/2012) [-]
No, no, at times it's hilarious. It has the interesting quality of being quite hardcore sometimes but still maintaining a fairly light and easy-going air.

Nice, would you kindly inform me of two of the main characters? So I would know what i'm dealing with?

Bear in mind that I haven't gone far in Bleach, only up to ep. 100 or so.

We have Ichigo Kurosaki, a freshman in high school. He more or less accidentally was granted powers to see spirits and fight for or against them. He becomes responsible for dealing with bad spirits. He's unusually powerful, but he's inexperienced and tends to be far too hot-headed. However, he is a kind and loyal person at heart.

Hmm, who else... there's a plethora of fascinating characters... Uryu Ishida, who is a Quincy, who have similar jobs to Ichigos. At first, the two are enemies, but later begin working together. Ishida tends to be very calm and somewhat aloof, but he is easy to anger, and he is proud. He is also very intelligent.

Thx a lot, thumbs for you.

One last thing. A Quincy?

It's a type of spirit in the series. It's explained within.
