I can understand. It is all about your personal tastes.
Minecraft is just a giant sand-box, but you have to work for your creations, which, in the end make them that much more satsyfing.

Some people don't have the patience for it, some people just aren't creative.

You can use creative mode. It gives you everything you need and al you need to do is build what ever you want

Try Adventurecraft. It's a standalone mod where you download and play different adventures people have created. One of the best ones I've played is Zelda Adventure.

Or if retro gaming is your thing try Terraria.
