If they read the Bible then they would probably not say that the sons migrated and evolved, they would cite the story about the Tower of Babel. Long story short, it describes a group of people trying to make a tower to heaven and God striking everyone down and giving them different languages so they could no longer communicate.

I personally believe the Bible is a book of morals, but most people take the stories literally. If a Christian was against the theory of evolution, which some are not, would probably stand behind a story because that's kinda what faith is. The Tower of Babel story implies that they spread out into different environments like zaizer said, only they have an explanation to believe this. Also they would probably say that skin tone isn't proof that humans evolved from monkeys.

I would think so, since it was written in the Persian era, back before ANY type of women's rights, when slavery was acceptable and anything remotely similar to the fifth amendment hadn't been considered. It was written in very old times, and the book of morals (designed for the very old times) have laws that most Christians do not follow.( Ex: It should not be considered stealing if a person takes food from you if they eat it on your property) Personally I think everything should be taken with a grain of salt , and it should be considered that people pick and choose what's easiest to follow for them (ex: people against homosexuality) while ignoring others that would actually affect them.

Not entirely. The Bible is written by people, but is the word of God. Jesus spoke in parables and is the same God as the Old Testament. Remember the Bible was not composed until after the Romans recognized Christianity.

The words of God is not to be taken literally, but his teachings are. His word is absolute, which are his teachings.

You're supposed to believe everything he did, didn't happen but you're still supposed to believe in him anyways and follow his rules? Then there's absolutely no reason to believe in him if you say he's never done any of that stuff.

I am not trying to say we discharge everything of the Bible. But you obviously don't understand the purpose of the Bible. You are treating it like some history text book. Or a chronic of God's work. That would not work out too well because God continues to work through us. If the Bible was really some sort of log about the history of what he did 2000+ years ago, then we would still be adding on to it.

There was also not some sort of sudden stop in taking everything literally. It has been a developing doctrine over the thousands of years in Christianity. Understand that the things we read in the Bible can be quite controversial to how the world actually works.

Take for example that creation of Earth. Science these days have shown that it has taken billions of years to form a suitable environment before humans ever shown up. Even then, these are not the same humans as Adam and Eve. Now does that mean we discard everything about Genesis because of this scientific theory?

Absolutely not, we need to find the real reason behind the story of God's creation of earth. What is the real purpose behind it all, which is the reason why we have scholars studying this sort of thing everyday. This also explains why there are 2 creation stories. Which one are we supposed to take literally if we did that. Even the life of Jesus Christ has 4 stories.

I'll give one theory. In the ancient times, we can find similar stories as those we find in Genesis. There is a sort of god who creates the heavens and the earth. On the earth, he makes man with his own power. So would it not be understandable for someone to understand the power of God to write a story of the similar cultures in order for His word to get across? If he wrote a story of how the big bang happened or what not, then it would not pass along very well now would it.

Let me ask you something, do you believe in the Ancient Egyptian gods? Or the old Norse ones? Or even the Olympic gods?
