Well, yeah. I´m german.

Our five star restaurants have been closed down in the late 40ies. Still they are that famous that they made these kitchens a museum. In Danzig and Auschwitz.

it was a turblent period, early 40';s shows the third reich at the height of it's power, mid 40's is the fall of german states and the late 40's is the long start of the cold war.

this is not the extent of my knowledge of ww2 era concerns, however clarification time in this particular situation is part of it.
