NOOOO! save your master ball for the legendary dog!

Legendary dogs don't come in until gen 2. Mewtwo is in Gen 1 games, despite the face that they added him to others.

I always get irritated when people call Entei, Raikou, and Suicune dogs... They're cats... quite obviously I might add... and originally they were cats, yes in Japan they still are. Suicine is the only one that looks dogish, but Raikou looks nothing like a dog... I'm sorry.. it's just something that irks me for some reason.

wrong, they're legendary beasts. Not cats, not dogs, beasts
User avatar #60 to #43 - CrashingSea (04/05/2012) [-]
In their original Japanese description, they were called cats.
User avatar #62 to #61 - CrashingSea (04/05/2012) [-]
Like. I. Said. the original JAPANESE description of them labeled them as cats, and that wiki just compared them to cats... "tiger, lion, and cheetah (or leopard)" a cat is a beast... so you're only furthering my point...
User avatar #63 to #62 - wierddude **User deleted account** (04/05/2012) [-]
it compared them to cats and dogs, it never said they were cats, they are beasts
User avatar #64 to #63 - CrashingSea (04/05/2012) [-]
It said people see them either as cats or dogs depending what they see more, but the bottom of the article said they were based more on mythological deities "such as Raijū, the Chinese guardian lions, and the qilin. On top of that, they also seem to have been stylized to fit the classic idea of three jungle cats or jungle beasts-- the tiger, lion, and cheetah (or leopard)."

they are beasts, people view them as cats and dogs. Nintendo have said that they are beasts
User avatar #66 to #65 - CrashingSea (04/05/2012) [-]
a beast is another word for animal... the legendary birds are legendary beasts... so are Ho-oh, lugia, Rayquaza, etc. I'm using YOUR source material here to prove MY point... I call you human, but there are so many small divisions from human that there's more to you. It's the same difference here, cat is just a subset of beast, or animal, in this occasion.
User avatar #67 to #66 - wierddude **User deleted account** (04/05/2012) [-]
beast is a term used to define an animal with no given name
User avatar #68 to #67 - CrashingSea (04/05/2012) [-]
But an animal they are none the less, and in this case they look feline among having the mythology that they are based off of Chinese lions and jungle cats, which only further adds to the fact that they are cats.

Also... we all know Nintendo has a bad habit of changing what is there and what they say in order to keep their gaming community at odds with what the truth is (the Zelda timeline being a perfect example).

We also need to remember that Pokemon and Nintendo do have a symbiotic relationship with their games, but that's it... the Pokemon series does exist outside of Nintendo's influence with their original comic(s) and the series.
User avatar #69 to #68 - wierddude **User deleted account** (04/05/2012) [-]
so do most series, if you look closely the zelda timeline is simple and they were beasts since gen 2
User avatar #70 to #69 - CrashingSea (04/05/2012) [-]
The timelime is MOSTLY simple, but there are parts that are harder to place than others and depending where a select few games are placed could change up the entire thing.

They are also cats, they are beasts and they are also cats, since a cat is a beast. If you look at the original Japanese descriptions, like I've been saying, they are cats, they are described as feline, even in the pokedex description if I'm not mistaken.

mewtwo is described to be feline like, is it a cat? And the few games that don't make sense are to make the puzzle more fun
User avatar #72 to #71 - CrashingSea (04/05/2012) [-]
Yes... Mewtwo IS a cat... the same as Mew is definitely a cat as well.

They do make it fun, but they also make it complicated at some points as well, but I do rather enjoy putting together a timeline here and there.
User avatar #73 to #72 - wierddude **User deleted account** (04/05/2012) [-]
nope, mew and mewtwo are bipedal they cant be cats. The timeline is rather fun
User avatar #74 to #73 - CrashingSea (04/05/2012) [-]
Just because they're bipedal doesn't mean anything. They are still cats though they can walk on their back legs. Now you're trying to add real world physics and biology to a world where animals can spontaneously produce water, fire, leaves, and giant beams out of their mouth. Simply put, it doesn't work that way. They are bipedal, yes, but they are STILL cats.
User avatar #75 to #74 - wierddude **User deleted account** (04/05/2012) [-]
pokemon is more realistic than one thinks. Cats are quadrupeds no bipedal animal can be a cat
User avatar #77 to #75 - CrashingSea (04/05/2012) [-]
I never said it wasn't realistic in a sense, but it's still a fantasy world where our logic and physics don't apply the same way. We don't have electrified mice and dogs running around and we also don't have kung fu, fire throwing chickens either. So there are things that we have to take with a grain of salt. Mewtwo and Mew are feline, it's even said in Mewtwo's description, and feline, or felus, is a way to say cat, whether they're bipedal or not, they are feline therefore they are cats. A tiger is a cat but it's no housecat, but they are both still felines.

yeah. if this was gen 1, then totally use masterball (if you want) but besides that, i would save the masterball for roaming legendaries

I always tried to use a haunter to trap them in the battle. I couldn't catch one before my ds screen broke off. I always got mad after losing battles and shook the ds extremely violently.....
