It's a real phobia. Anyone can be afraid of anything, and Anatidaephobia is just Latin for "Fear of ducks". I doubt many suffer from it, but it doesn't need to be scientifically proven that a certain number of people have it to be declared a phobia.

I'm afraid of pigeons because I was attacked once by a mad flock of them. If you've ever seen their peaks you may well realize it wasn't pleasant.

Well when you put it that way... First off, clinically Anatidaephobia has never been used to name a phobia according to public record, I am certain that there's somone out there afraid of ducks, however I doubt it's the fear of that ducks are watching them. Secondly a phobia is not just defined with being scared of something, there's fear of the dark and then there's having a phobia for darkness. A pohiba is an anxiety disorder which will cause the person suffering from it go to great lenghts to avoid having to face it, often these lenghts are disproportional with the actual danger the object which presents the phobia poses. This fear is also constant and will cause great distress for the person experiencing it

Actually it is indeed a real phobia, you would be completely surprised what some people have phobias over.
