I know that almost everyone here knows this, but the signal or connection strength from your computer to your access point does not indicate your internet speed. Neither does the speed of that connection. It's the speed of the connection from your router to your ISP, the broadband that the ISP gives you, and the portion of that broadband that the router assings to that particular computer that matter.
