Different schools have different methods and timetables.
My old school was trying to cut down the Physics department, they threatened to cut our lessons down to 6 a fortnight, we had 7 at that moment, which wasn't enough so we had a crap load of homework.
Other schools had the necessary amount of lessons and had much less homework.
