Fun fact: An assassination attempt on Andrew Jackson was made while he was president. His assailant fired his gun, at point blank range from only a few feet away, but somehow it misfired. President Jackson, in rage, flung himself onto the man and beat him down with his cane. Jackson's aids had to pull him off of the man. Definitely the most badass president.

And also wipe out a few native tribes, have slaves, etc.. Yeah man, times were different, and it's not that presidents can't do that now - it's just the secret service exists and do it before he can. Also guns shoot from far further ranges, unless the assailant comes at him with a lupara - it'd be a Police sniper who takes him out.
