Well I usually don't like American jokes because they lack originality. It is just you are fat and stupid. What are we in middle school?

Actually I'm from america, but I'm not fat, nor do I watch Jersey Shore. So I can still laugh like it's a joke.

I don't give two ***** for jokes about us

I just think it is annoying when people automatically call Americans fat, lazy, hillbilly ******* .

But we are a country that can be easy to be made fun of.

Instead of thinking of America, I just think of Alabama.

Bull. It is kind of like how I was treated in highschool for having a different faith than most people.

A few people made jokes :Okay, yeah, haha guys, that's funny...
A few more: Yeah, I get it, it is a bit silly to you..
A goodly amount: Okay, yeah, this isn't really that light-hearted any more
A ton of people making all kinds of horrible jokes that some take seriously: **** ALL OF YOU! **** YOU AND YOU AND YOU! YOU ANNOYING, STUPID ASSHOLES! GO **** AN ALTAR BOY!
And then when I make a joke about christian priests ******* Altar boys: Hey, that isn't funny dude, don't joke about our religion!

Meh, I love my country but a joke is just a joke. Now if there is actual malice behind then yeah you have a right to get pissed; however, 90% of the time its harmless fun.

I find most of the funny...because rather then looking at the jokes, and thinking of them applying to myself, I just look at them as if they're laughing at those specific people.
I know I'm not some redneck, fat guy, so I'm not going to take offense to red neck or fat guy jokes.
I'll just laugh at the people it's actually relevant to.
#149 - haziri (03/27/2012) [-]
Other way around. Anytime any american says anything remotely offensive suddenly everybody jumps our **** . But everybody else can bash us for as long as they want. Nice ironic post, stop talking out of your ass.

I'm not american, but this is how I have understood this from seeing a few threads about it.

When people joke about, let's say, Germany. Alot of times, it's about the german language, how it always sounds like people are angry and giving orders instead of talking, like that butterfly comic. When people joke about the french, it's the stereotype that they always surrender in wars and that they are cowards. The brits are portrayed as tea drinking people with a posh, upstuck accent. But when people joke about the US, it's rather critical compared to other countries. It's often about flaws in the system, controversial rules and laws, and how they should mind their own business. So instead of actually joking about them, it's plain criticizing.

Again, not american, but this is how I have understood this whole "conflict". Anyone agree?
