The nukes were a military operation against Japan, in a war against Japan. Pearl Harbor was an act of war, out of nowhere, in the middle of peacetime. That's why it's still more acceptable to bitch about Pearl Harbor than Hiroshima/Nagasaki.

maybe it's because even though the US dropped two nukes, there are still Americans who feel that japan has not suffered enough for the assault on a pearl harbor, which was a military base. Despite the fact that it happened more than half a century ago. So when we see people on Facebook saying that one of the worst natural disasters in history is gods revenge for pearl harbor, it pisses us off.

And it's too bad, because we know that by far most Americans are not like this, but when the retarded part of your population keeps yelling loudest on the internet, and when psychotic soldiers make the headlines, it hurts the worlds perception of the US.

And yes, the attack on pearl harbor was an attack out of peacetime, but that was an attack on your naval, not on your major cities. A bombing targeting populated areas will never be something that can even remotely be compared, no matter the circumstances, to a surprise attack on a military base.

Just because Pearl harbor was an attack on a military base doesn't change the fact that 2,400 American non-combatants died. NON-COMBATANT, because there was no goddamn state of war between the US and Japan. That's essentially the same as bombing 2,400 civilians out of the blue, and busting up a national monument at that since you fucked with the Pride of the United States, it's navy.

The attack on pearl harbor was a cowardly move, no doubt about that.

But millions died during the nuclear bombings. Millions of civilians. If that's not enough revenge for your country, then id say you have yourself a problem.

Also, the way the US uses the Predator combat drone to this day causes civilian casualties during bombing runs in countries that you are at peace with. If you think a surprise attack that kills civilians is something your country is morally above doing, then you are simply wrong.

300,000 people died in Hiroshima/Nagasaki, and it ended the war. The other option was an invasion that would have actually killed millions. Nukes < Operation Downfall.

I don't think the US is above fucking up. The predator drones do dumb shit, but it's not an intentional act of war against a neutral country, and when the predator drone fucks up, the affected country has a right to be pissed, and America apologizes. The Japanese still haven't apologized for what they did to China, which was fucking disgusting. hell, they hardly acknowledge it happened.

I know that it ended the war, and i agree that it was the only viable choice.

but lets not get too side tracked, my point is simply that the US had their revenge, and the reason that people use that picture is that they are pissed about how some Americans acted after the tsunami, and use it as an example to show how sometimes the US does things that piss of the rest of the world.

Everybody fucks up sometimes, and yes, the tsunami jokes were wrong, but that wasn't just the US.
