Actually, bass is EXTREMELY important. It has the base of the music. Drums keep the rhythm, sure, but the bass is what the rest of the instruments build off of. Without the bass, nothing is pulled together correctly.

Not to mention bass guitar sounds fucking beautiful.

It's not saying "bass is unimportant". If you actually read it and comprehend it, it's implying that he, like all of us, have heard too many shitty bassists glorify themselves about how they play bass. That's the entire point of that meme is making fun of the stereotypical shit people say/do in a certain situation.
