It doesn't suggest multiplication, it suggests addition. More than 400 has a minimum value of 400.

...you DO know multiplication is basically simplifiying addition?

400 x0 = 0 + 0 + 0...(400 times)

Multiplication is repeated addition. Multiplying by zero does equal zero, but this content doesn't suggest multiplication anywhere in it. It sets up the inequality:

X > 400, where X= the number of Africans eaten. In no way does the statement on the board suggest multiplication.

"The average american consumes more than 400 africans"

Am(american)>400 Af(african)
Am > Af (multiplied by) 400
Am> Af+Af+Af+Af+Af...400 times

400 Africans establishes the value of Africans to be 400, not that you are multiplying the number of Africans by 400.

The post can be understood in two different ways... you're thinking half of each

type 1:

An american eats more than 400 africans

Type 2:

An american consumes more goods then 400 africans-
Am(american)>400 Af(african)
Am > Af (multiplied by) 400
Am> Af+Af+Af+Af+Af...400 times

therefore, isdtea made the joke on africans consuming nothing, therefore

Am> 0+0+0...
so actually, it's saying americans consume more than nothing...

Welllll excuuuse us for having disposable grocery money. It's not our fault if we have a richer economy. Africa should (and im about to sound like an asshole) help itself. America helped itself, Europe helped it's self,so should Africa. so many red thumbs

It helped itself by exploiting 'Third World Countries'. Through outsourcing the economy was able to thrive and develop into what we know it to be today.
I'm not saying we should buckle over and pamper them, but at the same time, I'm saying you can't act like it's not our problem, as it is in essence our fault.

Cough Slave Trade Cough.
But on a more modern note, we employ a process which is called outsourcing, if they can make our goods cheaper than we can make them, we make them do it. E.g. sweat shops, Nike was recently was guilty of employing thousands of children to make clothes...
The problem with this, is that it is unskilled labour, and it provides a better alternative than most skilled labour for them, as such the population will never become educated enough to break the cycle.

Economics:
Because they make it cheaper we can buy more, (Demand is inversely proportional to price). the more people buy, the more money goes into people's pockets, which then buys more, etc.

However, In LEDC's They are unable to outsource, and as such the cost of living is very similar to their pay. less money flows around the economy, and much of the profit leaves the country through the corporations, for example. nike makes 70% profit off a shoe, the profit will be invested in more raw materials, wages, etc, which will leave say 20%.

This 20% should then go back into the local economy, which will benefit the local people, which in turn have more money, which in turn spend more money which in turn means companies lower prices further as they can benefit from a condition known as 'Economies of scale'. (the more u buy the cheaper each indivdual piece gets). And so, the companies could reduce the price to make more poeple buy, and repeat the cycle, benefitting the local economy.

Instead, they realise that there is more money to be earned abroad, and that there is no point lowering costs further abroad, and so all the money is sunk in people's pockets or into Research and development (high wages to skilled labour in MEDC's) while the LEDC has had the 20% money leave the country, despite the fact that it 'should' be used to boost the local economy.
TL:DR Corporations abuse the fact that LEDC's work for less, and make working for them a better option than becoming educated. Cycle Repeats

Both the US and EU ****** Africa over 20 times back and forth, to the point where it's impossible for them to "help themselves out". If Africa is going to get richer, "we" have to get slightly poorer, and that won't happen.
Anyway, you might want to look up how the US became a superpower. I'll give you a keywords: WW2, profit.
