Nirvana didn't make the grunge sound their record company did because they didn't like Nirvana's actual musical style. They sounded radically different before they got popular. Cobain himself said he absolutely hated the new sound of Nirvana because it wasn't his music anymore.

I honestly hate pictures like this. There's a lot of great bands out there in today's era that are talented musicians. Just because they didn't originate from that generation doesn't mean they are awful. I'll take my red thumbs like a man, because, frankly, I couldn't care less.

i like a7x.. alkaline is not that great.. not real familiar with coheed so they arent rock gods. and streetlight manifesto is awesome but they are not mainstream enough to get on a list like this. have a thumb for being different tho

go fuck yourself. Slash is mostly only famous for Guitar Hero 3? Are you 12? Do you know how many copies Appetite for Destruction ALONE has sold worldwide? Slash has been one of the most prominent figures in rock n roll music since the late 80s, and is an unmistakable icon.

I've been playing guitar for 5 yrs and been listening to all types of music from Zeppelin to Fleetwood Mac to GNR to Metallica to Avenged Sevenfold and everything in between. Jimmy Page and Hendrix are some of my absolute heroes, I have their posters all over my room, hell, I have multiple VINYL LPS by both sitting in a crate 2 ft from me. I LOVE rock n roll. and Slash is without a doubt one of the best guitar players in the history of popular music. He has consistently gotten better throughout his career and has the ability to tap into a great deal of emotionality in his playing that not many can top. Yes, a lot of his songs and riffs are based off simple pentatonic modes and blues chords.. so what? So are Hendrix's and Page's and Fogerty's jackass. Anyone can play Sweet Child O Mine, after a few months of lessons easy, but I doubt you could pull off a lot of his solos at 2 yrs..

I'm not saying his the most skilled guitar player ever (although he is bloody brilliant), but he sure is one of my favorite.
