90's kids

People on the internet... have this weird idea that this generation is doomed.
That we've reached the peak of human evolution and development, and that everything is down hill. They think that kids today are so stupid. And they're right, in that respect.
They're wrong about the cause, though.
It isn't the "today" that makes them morons, it's the "kids" part.
You were stupid (might still be), your parents were stupid, your grandparents were stupid, and your kids will be stupid.
Because they're children and children are morons.
"But what about pop culture!?" they may whine. Popular culture is taking the sum of everyone's stupidity and zooming in on it. Giving it a spot light to shine in.
It is always stupid. It has always been stupid. It will always be stupid.
And the world will move on, the seasons will change, the next generation will come, and all the kids you keep criticizing will be criticizing them in your stead.
You being pissy does one thing: It makes you angry over something you can't change.

I call bullshit. I never, EVER, thought that "virgin" was spelled "vergin" as a kid. EVER; nor did I find writing the number "2" an acceptable replacement for "two","too", or "to". The problem isn't kids, it is that they don't have to work hard; they are all lazy, which makes them stupid. The hard-working kids are usually the smart ones, and at least the stupid ones that work hard are respectable.

Because some kids are so used to doing so, they do that on their academic or professional documents... I do shortcuts like this quite often, but I have seen kids who don't even realize it's not actually proper grammar (and they are 17).

I am half and half about this though. It's half of this generation just being damned horrible, and the other half is that we are just kids. But this generation is so horrible because they feel like they are ENTITLED. They don't have to work for anything, they just deserve it because they live in a western country. And who needs to work hard, if you can live off entitlements and benefits (in the United States mainly). It's those kinds of things that make my generation the worst generation I have ever laid eyes upon.
Actually, the baby boomers were selfish-dicks and set themselves up with social security and pensions and the like, leaving my generation to have to fix all of that and pay them off.

I'm sorry but I really don't agree with this, because most of what your saying just seems to stem from this idea that life is this fixed immovable thing, as is culture and general human intelligence, Which, of course, it isn't.

You're right in that we do have a metric tonne of good people making the world an amazing place, but that right there seems to be the problem. Everyone is making everything easier in smarter ways, and that is good, but it definately seems to be that kids have things handed to them a lot more than we did.

Besides that, as a british citizen, our government is RUINING kids, because it's encouraging terrible people to become parents with all the benefits they give. you can literally just not have a job and just get pregnant, and I know way too many people who are doing that. now that simply wasn't the case before recently, or rather it wasn't as bad, and now there are just hundreds upon hundreds of people having kids and not even caring about raising them properly.

So in hindsight, I can't really speak for other nations, but I can definitely say that your argument does not apply to England well... our government is just absolutely retarded.

That's pretty much every generation. People have a tendency to reflect on their lives when they reach a certain age. Things change. Adults from the 90's generation are still young, but old enough to recognize the changes in technology since then. Back then we had these picto camera things (I dont remember their names honestly), today, kids get cameras. Adults will look back on how things were when they were a kid, because honestly there is no time like it for the rest of your life.
