monopolies are created with government help, subsidies, regulation, etc. etc. IF a monopoly were to be formed in an ancap state, it would have to maintain the best product for the cheapest price, or something else would overtake it. Standard Oil for example, got the government to help it grow as big as it did, but even still, it made oil affordable for the average person for the first time in history. If govt. regulation wasn't around, it would have been way cheaper and probably would have became a monopoly, but only by having the superior product/service.

The only problem I see currently is institutions that were created by government and given to people to run as a business, mainly internet. A lot of areas have only one or two options for ISPs so that'd be an issue in the beginning(would be fixed later on when ISPs would get enough money to expand and compete, it's just the short-term problem). If those Germanbros get their free satellite internet up, that'd fix everything and be pretty awesome.

If a monopoly forms sure it's possible to undermine them by beating their prices/quality but that's the same as having a small private store undercut walmart these days =/

Laissez faire does satisfy the capitalism part, but not the anarchy. Marx, seriously? He's the retarded cousin/shit-tier of economics. If walmart provides better services, wider variety, and cheaper prices, why shouldn't it be able to prosper? It's better for the people, as long as Walmart meets those three conditions, it would be hard to be put out of business, but also be the best for the consumer. In capitalism, corporations and businesses must please the consumers and place them above all else, or they will go out of business. The corporatism that we have now allows monopolies to exist whilst not meeting those three conditions, due to government regulation, subsidies, bailouts, etc. Marx's hypothesis would never come about in a truly capitalist government/non-government. Actually, his views on everyone being equal, etc., becomes less true based on the more involvement in the economy by government. In a laissez faire system, the consumers would hold the majority of power and wage gaps would be a lot smaller than they are now, but a lot more people would be "rich". In socialism(statist, not libsoc), just the elite politicians/people with connections have a vast majority of power, having huge wage/benefit gaps, but a much smaller "elite" class, so the dumb commoner doesn't know or see it every day. In communism(statist again) The power resides in a handful of individuals, and they have all the power. It's the most unequal, but once again, the commonfolk don't know or mind this, as they only see all the other relatively poor people around them, not the bigwigs of the state.

We being every human alive, not just the newborn children, or course.

I never said we should reduce the population at all. That's you thinking that, no me. I'm just saying, smart and resourceful as we may be, so far all we're doing is destroying the planet's ability to sustain us. The earth is neither aware nor alive it exists solely because it does, there is nothing inherently special about the planet. When this one has exhausted its resources entirely we will likely have the technology to move onto others. Humanity will always need more resources no matter how eco friendly or efficient we become, because no resource can ever be 100% efficient and clean. Humans have always needed to explore and expand for new resources. Soon we will be colonizing planets instead of simple continents. In this sense we are a bit like a parasite if you consider the inanimate unfeeling and uncaring earth as our host. But is that wrong? And is there another way?

There is enough energy (and we can do anything with enough energy) on this planet, and incident on this planet that we could easily stay here indefinitely. I think the fact that it actually has resident life, as opposed to literally billions of other planets that we've discovered, makes this planet fairly special. It will always be the planet we evolved on, and will most probably always be the only planet we can survive on unassisted. I agree about the exploration and expansion point, and about colonising other planets. I just think that we're far better off leaving this one in at least a serviceable condition before we move to the others, or we truly are going to face a mass extinction. To that end, we need to stop considering ourselves "special", because that implies we have a right to whatever we want from this planet, which is a completely unsustainable modus operandi.

I completely agree that we should do all we can to reduce our impact on our planet. However, I dont believe we should put the planets well being above that of human life. By the way, Im very glad to have had an intelligent conversation with someone I disagreed with. Thats quite rare here.

We are not a disease. A disease is something tuberculosis, etc etc. We are simply reproducing, and it is natural. I understand your viewpoint completely. I assume our pollution would be our virulence factor in terms of our parasitic disease ridden existence on earth? I'm not really interested in this debate, since it is obvious that we are technically a "disease" on earth, although everything is a disease on earth in that mindset. Someone who is pregnant is not going to die of their "disease"(minus complications that rarely arise in the US). It's not the same as two people getting married. That's their decision together. Rape victims are forced into a situation they didn't want. That's why governments can be absolute on the matter and say "No rape for you!"
