Only partially correct. The original Starcraft also had Minerals as a resource, and "Koreans are masters of all games" spawned from their obsession with Starcraft. In Korea, Professional Gamers are considered both Athletes and Sex-symbols (No I'm not kidding. inb4 "I'm moving to Korea!": you would be required to have enough skill to issue at least 100 commands per minute to reach that status.), and Professional Gamers in Korea tend to focus on Starcraft, due to it requiring you to be fast, accurate, a great strategist, and able to think of several things at the same time. This is the spawn of "Korea are the best gamers in the world", and "Everything in Korea is Starcraft" jokes.

Heck, when Starcraft II first came out, the first person to receive the very first copy of Starcraft II in Korea broke down in tears of joy, and the event was a front-page headline across the country.
