Probably because a lot of sites use Funny in their name and relatively no one uses 9.

Actually for a website to be considered encyclopedic it must fulfill either of the following :
1) Must be reported in news
or
2) Must receive an award from an independent and respected agency
FJ doesn't qualify for either category.

The argument for 9GAG having a page is that it is quite 'popular' though it is being actively discussed on the talk page.....

The Funnyjunk wikipedia article has been condemned in the eyes of the Wiki Kony, the Ugandan heroistration because of multiple accounts of "advertisement" and "misinformation." It's on the condemned wikipedia articles section.
