The part where Iran stones women to death for adultery and the men aren't punished.

The men are punished. When they cheat, their lovers get stoned!

Oh? Well, what about the veil? That alone speaks volumes. Or Saudi Arabia's ruling that women can't drive (though in retrospect, that probably reduced accidents... ;D) Or the Taliban and their numerous offences? Now, to be fair, obviously not all Muslims are crazy bastards, I know that. In fact, I understand that it is a fringe minority that is fundamentalist. But, strict interpretation is pretty damning for Islam's image, since strict interpretations are indeed hateful towards women.

what the face veil? or the headscarf, hair covering was in the world before islam.
but face covering isn't mentioned in the Quran however it is mentioned in the teachings of the prophet if a woman would like to be closer to god; she can (i.e seeking a higher level of piety by placing a barrier between her and temptations of the skin).
when you talk about certain places don't forget to actually listen to both sides i mean to fully understand the situation i know a lot of Saudi women and most don't feel oppressed as most who have education offered to them take it.
however the whole driving legislation isn't a big deal as they have drivers or they're husbands drive them; plus it's for their own safety as most of the men there aren't as accepting or open to that rule yet, but everything requires time and future will run it's due course. i can't even talk for the Taliban as i don't know much about them but i do know they are a rogue force no true muslim supports them.

True about the Taliban. Frankly I don't understand why there is so much hate between the two worlds, the West, and Islam, and why we westerners are so critical of you guys. We had our periods of violence and such. Only time will tell where Islam will turn, but I expect it to be widely accepted as fundementalism dies out. I'll certainly be happy knowing that there is more peace in the world.
