Even if that is true, how exactly is it fair that it's socially acceptable for a girl to go out of her way to make a guy due to the fear of rejection, but not OK for a guy to do the same thing?
Now, there's insight on the female mind, here's a little insight on the male mind:boobs and alcohol
I don't usually strike "those" kind of conversations with women for a variety of reasons. I'm busy...I'm uninterested...I'm shy as fuck...it varies. If a girl does something that sets a ping off in my head that suggests she's not interested in me, like not even sitting next to me, and instead sitting next to a "greasy loser", my first thought is "this is a test". That's also for a variety of reasons, but the main one is "I fucking hate those stupid ass mind games." No, the first thought in my head is usually "She must not be interested", and being the decent person I am, I respect that idea. Is it a stretch of an assumption? Yes, but so is the idea that sitting next to "a greasy loser" will automatically give the exact guy you're interested in the courage to talk to you.
So let's summarize:
It's unfair as shit for it to be OK for a girl to go out of her way due to fear of rejection, but not for a guy to.
It's stupid as hell to assume that all of that complicated, manipulative shit will have any sort of recognizable success rating.

I read the whole thing in Morgan Freeman's voice
TL;DR
Girls are manipulative, and expect you to know what they're thinking.

seriously, if you just talk to her, whether you think she's cute or not, good things will happen a plenty. your confidence will give you points.
