I hear how they give the kids a club and tell them to bash their parents head in. And as far as my high moral ground goes. I spent a 4 months in peace corps in botswana in 2005 teaching math. It was supposed to be a year, but I got really sick and had to be sent home. First of all i'm Australian, not American, and secondly, i'm a soldier and i've been to the Ghan twice already. I might be sent there, whether i like it or not, but we are still helping the Afghan civilians over there. You are an armchair activist. plain and simple. The only people that can help the Africans, not that they really deserve it, because theyd rather die than fight their oppressors, are soldiers. And if my fucking retarded government decides to send me to the middle of the fucking congo, then i will do my best for those cowards. Look at the Libyans. Fucking warriors. Ok, picture this scenario. You're 7 years old. In the middle of the night, men come into your house and take you and your mother outside. They give you a club and put a gun to your head and order you to kill your mother. What do you do?

If you think it's that easy obviously you're a fucking idiot. What do you think my mother would tell me to do? And if I'm 7, I have the limited knowledge of a 7 year old, making me even more frightened and unprepared in the situation. Anyone grown would rather die for their parents than kill them because they're not fucking stupid, but in the heat of the moment a beaten 7 year old with a gun to his head, his mother screaming at him to take her life instead, makes it fuckin complicated. It's OBVIOUSLY not that simple if he got 20,000 of them to do it.

I know that what i'm saying can sound a bit extreme in this day and age, but when you really think about it, i'm totally right. My favourite example is the Greeks rebellion against Turkey after 400 years of oppression. Nobody went to help them, even though the entire planet knew what was happening over there. And then they rebelled and won back their freedom. How long has Africa been in this state? Much longer than 400 years. And then all of a sudden, their problem has become our problem. If they started a rebellion tomorrow, i'd be begging to be sent over there to help them out. But what good is helping someone that isn't willing to help themselves?

You are both right and wrong. Big problem with Africa is that its countries are not natural countries like in europe and asia. The lines on the map were made by colonial powers, and they make fuck all sense both socially and geographically. We have countries that keep bunch of completely different and often quite antagonistic nations and cultures together.
For a simple example, lets put South Africa. like 80% of population is black. But they are not all SAME black. There are Zulu, Swazi, Tswana (five or so more).
They can't organise like Greeks have, because unlike Greeks tehy don't have a common nation, culture and history to rally behind. Africa should be politically completely redrawn, which WAS suggested after ww1, but was shot down by great powers.
If you think Europeans do better when bunch of nations with different cultures are put together in same Frankenstein country, look at how Yugoslavia ended.

Yes but take into account the majority of Africans and what do you see? Look at every other war for independence or freedom from oppression. Why is it that the Libyans can accomplish this. And they had virtually 2 armies to fight and their enemies were much better equipped, trained and had tanks. What makes them so different from the Africans?
