I don't get why they need to fabricate drama and fake events when the comics were so good themselves. JUST FOLLOW THEM!

Yeah he wants to keep the watchers on their toes, and they killed off Dale to show that no character is safe from death.

the guy who wrote the comic/script actually wanted to make sure that the show and the comic weren't the same so that people would be all over him for just rehashing the comic into a tv show. So the reason the stories are different but still some what the same is so that people who have read the book can't just sit there with the people who havent and just spoil it for them.
