Because soldiers die everyday just doing their job... and yeah they don't stop Hitler every five minutes, no says they do, but there will come a time when we need our soldiers again to protect us. And in the meantime you should respect the sacrifice they make.

No, but Al'Queda does cowardly things like hide among civilians. And kill civilians. Including civilians that agree with them. I haven't looked up the research myself, but I would bet the vast majority of civilian casualties in both wars are a result of the enemy. Again, I won't say that is a fact, I don't know for certain, but I would not be surprised in the least.

the initial invasion of iraq did cause some civilian casualties through incompetence of troops and officers and entire towns being prepared by shelling them with 2000+ rounds from artillery guns. the rest can mostly be put on account of IED's or insurgents hiding amongst civilians

Hate to tell you this, but you are ignorant. I generally stay polite here, but I don't feel you deserve it to be honest. All of the soldiers I know, and given who I am and what I do and plan to do, have joined because they feel that our society and civilization needs to be protected. None of them believe that it is perfect, but it is a hell of a lot better than some. They do as they do to defend and ensure the liberties that aren't allowed in many areas. I would love to see how you fare under Sharia law as enforced by radical Islamists.

Most soldiers don't do it because they have to, in fact nearly all soldiers do it because they feel the need to protect their country and their family. No soldier acts like a puppet to the government. I also support firemen and policemen which I guess you would think they also act like "puppets to their masters" right?

i respect their sacrifice not the reason why they are making it at the moment
