Update 7: Regarding the Apple rumor still persisting: Some might think that Apple made Hasbro give the order to remove Derpy. However, Hasbro told WeLoveFine to remove the Derpy merchandise. That has nothing to do with Apple. Clearly Hasbro is the common denominator here, and there is no information to suggest Apple is involved at all. This rumor may originate from the fact that the DVDs are not edited, but the reason for that is because it would be too expensive to recall them all.
Others point out Kreoss' post on deviantART saying Derpy "will be fine". Keep in mind Kreoss works for Top Draw, not DHX, and thus only has knowledge of episodes already storyboarded and likely too late in development to redo. Furthermore, DerpyHoovesNews states there are no other Derpy scenes planned for season 2, which means Top Draw would have no reason to believe they're editing her out. This tells us nothing about the fate of her potential season 3 appearances. Top Draw won't know what's been cut as they will never get to see it.
