To be fair, the werewolves in Twilight are described as not being "actual" werewolves, instead being an inherited shape shifting trait passed down through the Native-American bloodline.

And Stephanie Meyer isn't allowed to take artistic liberties with her characters? I'm not saying the books are good. They aren't. They're trash. But you people act like the author is the devil and all the books deserve to be burned. When did we become the book nazis? Its up to people what they read. Twilight's gay, hurr durr. Shut the **** up.

Yes she is able to take liberties with her book, b/c obviously its her's. But she took such liberties that she ruined well established creatures and stories. She didn't write about vampires and werewolves, she wrote about mutant fairies and pedophile shifters. The reason people react so strongly to Twilight is because it is an absolutely horrid book, poor character development, incomprehensible plot, sub par writing, etc. Yet despite this fact there are millions out there that call this book amazing and revolutionary, this is was upsets people. When hundreds of great books go unnoticed for this it is both pathetic and disappointing. Fans of literature are angry that these books exist and are as popular as they are.
