And it's not the European Union that uses euros. Let me explain:
The European Union counts 27 countries, all in the same continent, including Denmark and those other countries.
However, the eurozone only counts 17 countries and this is the part that uses the euro.
There's a central bank in Germany that holds control over the economy of all members of the eurozone, and it has branches in every single country of this zone.
So... yeah.
