Well, consider this...
If someone rejects you, just look at it this way: They passed an opportunity for something good and hurt your feelings. Therefore they shouldn't really deserve to still have you as their friend, because that's the most they want, while you're the one making a sacrifice by enduring the torture of only being friends while still wanting to have a relationship with that person. I think that the best way to respond to rejection is to say "your loss" and just walk away, and not talk to them until they take the initiative, when they start feeling sorry.
