Actually I'm doing a language and technology course as a part of my English Language AS level, and I don't mind the vowel or apostrophe omission or anything that's meant to save you time, but I just hate when people type/say "would of" or "could of". Retarded, that's what it is.    
btw Most of the people using textspeak in their text messages are scoring higher on literacy tests, because in order to shorten something you need to know it in the first place.
