They never made pizza a vegetable. They said that the tomato sauce in pizza can constitute one serving of veggies.

Not really. They're just saying that there is enough sauce for one serving of veggies. It's actually pretty straightforward

They're not saying that it's the same as eating a vegetable. They're saying that it constitutes a serving of vegetables. Drinking V8 isn't the same as eating vegetables or fruit either, but it still has full servings of them in it

but V8 is 100% fresh fruit juice
Sauce on a pizza, especially in schools, are full of **** sugar and artificial sweeteners

V8 is vegetable juice, hence the V in V8, yes they have mixes now, but no straight fruit juice. You're just pushing the argument in different directions under the same basic topic, the only problem is you are making ****** points.

Well we don't have V8 juice, i just quickly googled it.
I know it said 100% juice. Pizza sauce has hundreds of additives and sugar added, that's the difference

Not neccesarily. Yes factory produced pizza has a lot of synthetics, but many places just use the tomatoes and spices.

As i understand it (and i may be wrong) the law mainly effects children at school. Which i can assure you will use the cheap factory stuff

Okay, So then add that as a sidenote and say how wrong it is, don't try to sit there and make that argument with points that are off topic.

lafuriaroja is right.
It is what they said, it's just ******* wrong.
Basically: Schools were refusing to make their lunches more healthy, and so rather than punish a large number of schools, they said that if pizza is served to the children then the tomato topping constitutes as the child's serving of fruit and veg for the day.
It's stupid and they've only made the health problems worse. All they've done is
not
punished people who deserve to be punished.
Sure it would have cost money to do it but, seriously congress. WTF

In cooking it is still considered a vegetable, seeing as it has the same vitamins as usual vegetables, that is why the FDA (and other nations equivalents) puts it with other vegetables.
The sauce on the pizza makes it a SERVING of vegetables, in no shape way or form did they call it a ******* vegetable.
The people that believe they did are too narrow minded, lazy, or believe everything they hear on the Internet to actually determine what the bill said.
And to the picture, pizza is cheap to produce and distribute to schools, so it saves the government money instead of having to buy extra vegetables in lieu of pizza.

It doesn't save money! The federal government takes a big chunk out of my paycheck to fund mega-farms that produce mostly corn and tomatoes, along with livestock. They sell their crops to big ****** food companies like Tyson and what not which process the food and basically do what coke dealers do- make 1 gram of cocaine into 2. This causes private farmers to raise their prices because they're going broke. The government is the reason why millions of farmers and cultivators are out of jobs. NOT TO MENTION, the high fructose corn syrup that the mega-farms produce. That **** is REALLY unhealthy yet the US is the only country that uses HFCS in soda, ketchup, AND TOMATO SAUCE.

The pizza SAUCE might be a serving of vegetables, but the rest of what's in pizza (grease, fat, ect) cancels out any beneficial health value... and calling it a serving of vegetables makes absolutely no sense. Maybe a serving of grains (because despite the fact that grains=carbs=fat, two servings of a grain product a day MUST be served to kids) or dairy, but vegetables?
No. Just no.

A serving of vegetables? Tomato sauce? Really?
Because last I checked, tomato SAUCE has more added preservatives and sugars in it than any regular vegetable or fruit...
And besides, pizza is extremely bad for kids. Watch Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution, an elementary school in the most obese town in America was serving it for breakfast along with other processed, disgusting food because it was "cheap and easy to make."
The government shouldn't have made pizza a vegetable serving anymore than they should have made it a dairy or grains serving. Truth be told, it's all about saving money in our increasingly unhealthy nation which we'll eventually come to regret...
TLl;DR: If you think there was ANYTHING good about the law congress passed regarding keeping pizza in school, you're wrong.
And besides, it's not like it was the people's idea to resort to deficit financing and get us in a ******* of debt with other countries.

Because when people here congress making a law, they tend to unconsciously see it in the worst possible way, and don't take any other answer as the right one, (even if it is)
