dont know why you were toenail clippinged down. i mean yeah the first few generations were great but gen 3 was when they finally had the technology to back up the game the most. completely new pokemon, completely new region, completely new biomes to explore and puzzles to figure out, the game was more story driven then silver and gold and was over all a great game. putting it next to the others which were direct sequels will put it to shame but as a stand alone it was fantastic

I played Crystal first, Yellow second, and bought Emerald when it came out. I have immense love for the creativity of the first two gens and those games were great. But 3rd Gen just kicked major ass, it was the last of the good Pokemon, It had the best engine and polish, the story was amazing, but most of all it was challenging as hell. I just think it was the perfect rounded Pokemon game, but i do love and respect the others.

i thought the elite 4 could have used some work but as far as the rest goes i agree with you whole heartedly. after that the games became more story driven and they spent less time on the pokemon themselves, gen 4 is a great example of it. they added 5, count them. 5 fire pokemon to the games. out of all of the pokemon in the games they only added 5 fire ones and didnt have many others to begin with. it was extremely story driven and caused a lot of backtracking. i wasnt a fan. then gen 5, it went closer to gen 3, it was a good mix of challenge, story, and pokemon design. some of the pokemon were kinda crappy yeah but over all it followed gen 3 as its design and went from there and i loved it. it was the first pokemon game since i got a DS that i just could not put down. which is saying a lot considering soul silver and heart gold.

I loved the Gen III games, but I'd love to see them remade as the battling mechanics were vastly improved in Gen IV (i.e. physical and special attacks).
