I actually had to explain to one of my friends the other day. He was just some random fucking kid on an island, who on his FUCKING birthday, his fucking sister got abducted by a pedo-bird, and he was all like "OHHHH HELL FUCKIN NO" so he went up that bird like a bouss and, got his ass kicked, but then he nutted up, got the master sword, MADE THE FUCKING TRIFORCE OF COURAGE LIKE A BAMF!! and MADE himself the fucking hero. I wonder if he didn't become the hero, who would tho... pic related

well actually if you read the beginning when he got his first shield, he is the hero's reincarnation, because that was the family crest of the hero, and in the end the ocarina of time Ganon swore to comeback 100 years later and kill the hero's and zeldas descendants . So in windwaker [100 years after the events of ocarina of time] Ganon comes back to find Links and Zeldas descendants and take the triforce and kill them and take over the world, but it failed sooooo Toon Link is the the Legendary Hero's descendant.
