I'm not saying most graffiti artists think like this, but I think you should first make a name for yourself, what better way then to spam it next to your name and after getting arrested becoming professional. A guy who came to our school told us that that's how he started. Now he get's paid like 200-400 bux per job(I think, my memory isn't that great)

well, getting arrested (IMO, not everyone agrees with me) isn't exactly what you'd want as a graffiti/spray paint artist, since other than fame, public acceptance really comes into play; i've lived in toronto (canada) and hong kong, and public acceptance really counts there - there was a while in toronto where the citizens got fed up with vandalism and started a "clean up the streets" event sort of thing to clean out as much graffiti as possible, and in hong kong, i feel like graffiti is just generally frowned upon as an activity/art.....

to anyone that wants to start/take up graffiti, there are ways that you can keep it clean and NOT just go spraying shit everywhere and letting passerbys to their own judgement; artists are sometimes allowed to spraypaint at certain places, and some even start off spraypainting at stands they set up themselves at public carnivals/festivals - there are many ways you can go about art, so i would hope that people try to consider what the public thinks to a certain degree.... this also gives us a lot more opportunities in the long run :)
