Did little shopping, and got very close to the mac pro.
Intel X5650 (6 cores) $800 at lowest, Motherboard approx. $150 for 4 sata 3 ports, 4 ram ports and room or raid and hd5870, Ram 4gb 1333mhz ecc $37, superdrive $80, 2tb hdd 72000rpm $155, raid card (Third party copy of mac pro card) $300, hd5870 with mini display port $450, 500 watt power supply $50, aluminum case with firewire and usb's $500
I got $4,598 without any fans, cables, and using much lower quality parts than those in the mac pro. The mac pro is $8,000 with more ports, better case design and air flow, and a 12 core cpu driver. Intel has no 12 core driver available for windows, only third party drivers exist.
A mac pro will cost more for a home user than a business since they are built to sell in bulk and it take more labor per comp to build one custom than 20
duplicate customs.
also this has been posted more times thanOH PEEhas sucked dick.

inb4 macLamar Smiths bitch about the viral invulnerability of macs (which isnt even true). macs are for Lamar Smiths, PC 4 LYF, YO.
There are less viruses for macs because Apple is extremely closed source and doesn't like outside programming. However the ones that are out there for macs are extremely devastating. My high schools computer lab got bricked one year because
A: they were all macs
B: They were networked
C: the virus was designed to wipe everything.
We couldn't even load a boot disc to put a new OS on them after they got wiped.
Anyway Outside of apple computers most PC's generally tend to work out better in the long run. Fuck yeah upgradability.
