Am I the only one who thinks that people now spend more time obsessing about celebrities than being an active member of their community?

I don't know, it's just sad to see people so obsessed with these celebrities that they follow their twitter page every day and then they can't even remember which kid in the neighborhood is not getting a meal tonight.

It makes me sad when I wrote more serious articles in high school, but you know what? The majority of my articles, which focused on serious topics like the flawed foster care system, bullying leading to suicides (happened in our school), etc. and despite receiving praise for them, not even half made it into the actual paper. No, it wasn't my grammatical skills or lack there-of, it was more so lack of interest. The school, of course, would rather feature the hottest trends of the new year. Sad but true, that is journalism.
