My father went to war, told me all kind of sick things, and let me tell you one thing:
Just because you play call of duty or whatever, where you fight "evil" while listening to epic orchestral songs, doesn't make wars any more heroic.
Nobody will go to war, especially USA, if they don't smell big money. The poor people are the ones who have to fight, and kill innocent people who get caught in the crossfire.

War is madness - NOTHING heroic about it. Don't go to war.

Why are people being such dicks about this?

He's a hero not because he was fighting for OUR freedom, but to help people. I think anyone who has the guts to sign up and be in the military just to go overseas to help out is a hero; and anyone who dies or gets hurt, even more so.

So shut the fuck up and have some God damn respect.

My cousin is in the Air Force, and has gotten into life-threatening situations multiple times. It is amazing to know that others appreciate the work of the military. Thank you, sir.

No, don't call me a hero. Do you know who the real heroes are? The guys who wake up every morning and go into their normal jobs and get a distress call from the commissioner and take off their glasses and change into capes and fly around, fighting crime. Those are the real heroes.

-Flame suit activated-

No disrespect towards the men and women of the Marines, but I feel this man has lost his legs in vain. There isn't a point to it, not to the United States at least. Young men and women die for what? They aren't protecting our freedoms, Congress is actively destroying them. Terrorists haven't got shit on any developed nation, and if the people of Afghanistan and Iraq want freedom from terrorism and dictatorship, they can do it themselves. So now we have another perfectly good man permanently maimed for the freedom of another nation that will tumble as soon as intervention ends.
/endrant, bring on the red pinkies.

War doesn't make heroes, makes survivors. The only thing a true hero needs is the will to change what is wrong in the world and the strength to do so. A hero is a teenage girl helping homeless people in her spare time,
is a fireman rushing in a burning building to save complete strangers, is a doctor visiting ill children in africa. He could have done any of that and even more and be a hero, but instead he decided to use a gun. Sorry, but
a man who decides to give up the possibility to help who is in need for a gun, is not a hero for me.
