You would kind of need to hear about religion in general to not believe in it.

1: you didn't post an image, so there's no point in saying 'mfw'.
2: you're arguing in favour of religion on funnyjunk.
3: The old testament isn't a cultural setting, it's a work of fiction, or speculation, if you prefer.

Are you ******* stupid? You are obviously one of those people who cannot comprehend how legitimate the teachings of Christianity are, nor are you capable of having a discussion about religion in which you actually know what you're talking about.

The bibles teachings are less legitimate than the teachings of harry potter. Harry potter was written by one author not dozens, in a period of ten or so years, not hundreds or even thousands. You can take all you want from a novel but its still fiction. In the case of the bible you can take all the sexist, homophobic, hateful, inconsistent and violent lessons you want, they're all frowned upon by modern society. The bible is a poorly written barbaric tome of a failed civilization's dreams of prosperity and peace which it never found.

So let's get this straight:
You are going to focus on the laws of a time thousands of years before now, which were laws given to a primitive civilization, and are also irrelevant even in the Christian religion today since Jesus' crucifiction, and you're just going to throw out the entirety of the teachings of the New Testament? You know, the one that we're suppsosd to look to for our teachings? You, sir, know nothing of Christianity.

The new testiment is perhaps the most popular text of wholely copied stories, nothing it in is new, its just a collection of hundreds of ancient legends all rewritten to have a mystical god as the focus, The christ Jesus. The christ jesus of course was a cult leader some 2000 years ago, a man who allegedly said he was the son of god but his followers considered him a god. Not uncommon for cults.
The new testament essentially contratdicts the old testament entirely as, apparently, god changed his mind. Coincidentally it would seem that the christ jesus's god was much more appealing and his story was then written about first by paul and then expanded hundreds of years after his death.

The fact that you take it so seriously shows that you are the one who doesnt understand it. Also there is no historical evidence for a man named jesus of the time much less one with mystical powers. The only eye witness testimony comes from a jewwho profited immensely from creating a church based on his copied teachings.

Right there. We already have irrefutable proof outside of the Bible that there WAS in fact a man named Jesus, who was born in a stable, and who grew up into his fathers Carpentry business. Of course, this does nothing to show his divinity. Now, to prove you don't understand Christianity:
In the Christian faith, there are certain spiritual laws. For example, sin. If one has sin, then he cannot be in the presence of God, otherwise he would be obliterated, since the presence of God is so pure. Now, in the Old Testament times, they had to participate in sacrifice in order to recieve forgiveness. The punishment for all sin is death, both physical and spiritual. Now, since no one can take this upon themselves, obviously, they had to use an animal. In this way, they could be forgiven. Now, once Christ had been crucified, the practice of sacrifice became unnecessary. Since Jesus was perfect, he could take upon him a (theoretically) infinite amount of spiritual punishment. Which he did. He took death and upon him the sins of all who would and ever did worship him. That's the big thing that God changed from the books. Now, the stuff in the Old Testament about stoning gays, having people put to death, those were all laws given to the people of that time period. It's the same way that cultures just naturally change over time. Except that at the time that Jesus was teaching, humankind had evolved (not like adaptation and stuff like that, I mean as a society) enough that they were ready for the teachings of Christ. Practices are there for a reason. Once they are no longer needed, why follow them? It'd be like spending $100 on an old RAZR instead of $20 on a new NEXUS. These are just two examples of deep spiritual law and their effect on Humanity. So, if you TRULY understand Christianity, then answer this question: When Adam and Eve partook of the fruit (supposedly), was this beneficial or impeding to the Plan of God? Answer the question first.

lol you cant just say you have irrefutable proof, there is no such proof. There is no proof jesus lived at all. The earliest mentions of jesus are from people who have never even seen him or anything. And the bible doesnt count as proof, its full of nonsense and is completely biased.

And it cant be beneficial or impede gods plan. It was the plan the whole time. If mankind can divert gods plan then it limits god. Then he isnt all powerful, so then he isnt god.

Archaeological writings from Bethlehem and Nazareth and all those good places of a man named Jesus. Some cursed him, others praised him, all found in (~2) thousand year old places. Also, I know the Bible doesn't count as proof of anything without the testimony of events around it.
Good answer. I see you are capable of using sound logical thinking. However, it wasn't the answer that proves your knowledge about Christianity. But, can you tell me WHY it was Gods plan?
