Everyone else in the universe must live in neighborhoods where Christians are paranoid, bigoted, shitheaded assholes because where I live, every person I know, Christian or not is understanding, open-minded, nice, friendly and polite. In fact, I'd go so far as to say the Christians are even MORE so. What is going on in the places I don't live?

I've lived in Iceland, Denmark and Norway, not once have I ever met a Christian person who was an idiot, nor an asshole. I've never met a Christian person that wasn't very nice and open-minded. Of course I've heard of people like that, but nowhere outside of FunnyJunk and a few extreme cases in the news or on Youtube. I think this might be an American thing.

Europe in general tends to have fewer religious people than america, and those that are religious are much more educated than the very religious in america. I think there aren't many evolution denialists in europe. It's much, much different in america.

I myself am religious, and I find it hard to believe some of the posts on Funnyjunk about certain Religious people being utterly retarded, but then again, I suppose their lower intellect has less to do with their religion and more to do with where they live. Where I come from, every religious AND non-religious person is seen as equal, and whether or not they are religious is seen as a slight difference in opinion that should have no effect on how people think of them at all, nor should it effect who they can and can't be friends with. This is why I take such offense when people claim that all religious people are retarded, when they've only been exposed to the "American" kind.

Well, give those posters a break. Atheists can have a really hard time in america. Some people get expelled from school, some get kicked out of their houses, and some even get a lot of death threats. It's not usually so bad in liberal states, but southern conservative states really hate atheists. (as a rule)

I haven't experienced anything like that, there's no hate in the government here in Europe, not since Hitler has there been such prejudice against a certain group of people. I just can't imagine being in their shoes.
