Fail, you just did a multiplication that was placed after a division in an equation.
If the equation was 6/(2(1+2)) THEN you can do it that way.
But for the way the equation is set on those calculators you must follow this order:
(1+2)=3
6/2=3
3(3)=9
There is no guess work in maths, you dont just choose which order you do things in. There are strict rules that must be followed and those strict rules say the answer is 9.
By doing 2(3) as the second calculation instead of 6/2. And If I'm not wrong, then multiplication denoted by a bracket should come before multiplication or division denoted by signs.
No....he's not.....multiplication and division are on the same level in PEMDAS, so you would apply the rule to whichever one is first, in this problem its 6/2. How many ******* retards can there be who can't figure out 3rd grade math?
If you see a multiplication and a division side by side they have the same standing, so you just do whatever's first then move onto the next. In the UK we learned BIDMAS so the division and the multiplication is the different way round, but in general, division and multiplication have the same standing when next to each other, and the same with adding and subtracting.
your a retard to think 9 is correct
PEMDAS = Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction
Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally
parentheses first, that means 2+1=3, then multiply 2*3=6 then divide 6/6=1
please don't breed
I'm sitting here working out these problems in five seconds, because I'm boss, and it hits me. Why the **** would you need a calculator for this problem?
Next is exponents which there are none so on to Multiplication -OR- Division. This rule states that you read the equasion like you would a sentence in english. and we now get an equation that looks like this :
The calulator clearly says 6 divided by 2.
You cantsubstitute a division sign with a fraction bar because they have different ranks on the order of operation.
that is why it is the same as dividing by zero...
There is no way the brackets located at the under right?
Just showing to other people too bro, good that you pointed me wrong, i believe someone will do it. you know that people learn from someone's fault right?
It's better me look like an idiot than sacrificing someone to get the red pinkie.
Wasnt trying to make you out to be stupid, just trying to get it across to everyone that you cant treat it as a fraction when the sign says divide cause it messes up the whole order.
You get a pinkie up for beeing so understanding.
(6/2)(3) only helps express the rule that you read the equation like you would a sentence. I understand it's 6/2(3) but the first equation you encounter if you were reading it as it should be is 6/2 hence putting it in parenthesis. 6/2(3) = (6/2)(3) = (3)(3) = 3x3 = 9.
Damn. I didn't pass every math class through High school with A's to be told by a snot nosed brat that I'm wrong.
Basic High school math teaches a little thing called Order Of Operations. or maybe some remember it as PEMDAS. you calculate the numbers in the parentheses first. Use google calculator. 100 bucks says the correct answer is 9
I put it into google calculator, and it comes out as 9, due to the fact it puts brackets itself around 6 and 2, with brackets it is 9 ofc, but without it is 1.
with brackets is meant the part inside the brackets, if it was (2*3) it had to be done first,
2*(3) is the exact same thing as 2*3,
what makes 6 / 2(3) the same as 6 / 2*3
in which case you have to calculate from the left to right,
is 3*3 is 9
the REAL question is why the answer on graphical calculators differs from how we calculate it. My guess is some calculators look at divisions more like "fractions" and add implied brackets that are undisplayed/entered
Most 'heavy' calculators imply these brackets, where simply calcs don't, and expect you to do it
Brackets first, which was the (1+2) but 2(3) does not count as brackets but as multiplication.
2(3) can also be written as 2 x 3.
Therefore after calculating the brackets first you get this:
6 / 2 x 3.
Due to PEMDAS, BIDMAS, BODMAS or whatever other name you want to call it, you must now calculate it in the order from left to right, therefore you calculate the 6 / 2 first which gives 3 and you are left with
3 x 3
Which, without contestation is obviously 9.
Answer is 9
You do parentheses first (1+2) =3
You now have 6/2(3)
Now you do division and multiplication in the same strep from LEFT to RIGHT, don't forget that.
6/2 = 3
Now you have 3(3)
3(3) = 9
Booyah!
sir have you heard of pemdas?
that is the order of the order of operations there is no way you can get 9 from doing what i did the correct answer is 1 his is wrong so therefore i think my way is correct.
when did the teacher ever say read math like a book and solve it
you cant divide while a equation is still in the problem ex. 6/2x3 <you cant do that you have to make it two numbers you cant ever divide multipliers with a single number so you have to do 2x3 which is six 6/6 (for your info the / is dividing since it seems you dont know)
now tell me what is 6 divided by 6
your a ******* dumbass maybe if you payed attention in school they would have said
"ok you dumbass ********** doing math isnt like reading a book" instead you decided to waste your time wanking in class and using your jizz as hair gel, if your in a algebra class in college and your dumbass is doing math like that your ass is getting flunked
My ******* god, Fine I'll explain it to you if need be:
6/2(1+2)
First you do the parentheses--> 6/2 (3)
Then you DIVIDE becuase on PEMDAS multiplication and division are on the same level so it would be which ever comes first which IS LEFT TO RIGHT--> 3(3)
6 / 2 (1+2) That is the equation
6 / 2 (3) Doing the brackets first
3 (3) Then the division
3 x 3 Because **** you
9
I have a feeling they keep changing the way to do it every few years or so just to prove nobody is ever going to use it in real life apart from these situations
Realised half way through that that I am agreeing with you lol
