Are you fucking kidding me. If you think Altaïr is so badass, I would imagine you, like me, love Assassin's Creed. And IF you knew your way around the lore of the story of Desmond and his ancestors, you would fucking know that Altaïr HAD a father AND a mother (died at childbirth), which means he was NOT "shat out by the universe". Ibn la'Ahad is just his fathers family name, and we really don't know yet WHY they're called "Sons of nobody". Let me tell you a story:
When the Saracens and Salah ad-Din we're "conquering" the holy land, they saw the Creed in Masyaf as a major obstacle in their campaign. They attacked Masyaf when Altaïr was just a young kid. His father (at night) sneaked out and placed a feather at the bedside in Salah ad-Din's to indicate how easily the Assassins could havve killed him. Even though Altaïrs father (Umar) was successful and the feather was planted, he was caught on his way out and had to kill an officer of the Saracens. The Saracens, as payback, caught an Assassin (not Umar), and presented him in front of the Assassin castle for execution. The Saracens demanded that Umar stood forth to die instead of the innocent Assassin. Umar would not be able to cope with the shame of another man being killed for his actions, so he stood forward and was executed. The caught assassin was freed, but he later committed suicide because of the shame.
That is the way Umar, the father of Altaïr, died.

I speak arabic and altair means "the bird". but Ibn La'ahad does mean "son of no one"

The animus had a translator program that automatically put whatever Altair was saying into English so that Desmond could understand
I'm not sure which language is native to Altair but it certainly wasn't English

well the accent was due to the animus automatically translating whatever language is spoken (most of it) into exactly what the user understands. Every few words they sneak an italian something in there but there is subtitles

ACTUALLY the whole ameircan accent thing is because animus 1.0 is worse than the animus 2.0, so that's why it sounds like he has an amerifat accent in the first game. However, as you see in revelations, in which you sit in the animus 2.0, he has an arabic voice. ;)

ThePsychoKitty (01/19/2012) [-] Actually, interesting fact, Altair is actually the name of a star that is part of the constellation called Aquila the Eagle and is part of the Summer Triangle. Altair is the 12th brightest star in the sky. Also this name is used by nasa to name one of lunar lander missions, though that is ten years in advance (it was announced in 2007).
Sorry, couldn't help myself. Got a telescope and got excited when I spotted that star for the first time.
