story struck me as total bullshit upon first reading, then it was guaranteed bullshit once I saw the sentence for that kind of crime. That is the same sentence a violent rapist would get, plus for an assault the 10 year monitoring probation makes no sense, only child sex offenders get that long.

THis whole thing is clearly fake.
The writer of the article clearly has no understanding of the U.S. Legal System... whatsoever.
Held in a local Jail before he can be Transported to a more "permanent Prison"... THEN he receives a prison term, of 5-7 years, for simple battery? (a Misdemeanor in most states, Massachusetts included) THEN 10 Years of probation?
Manslaughter (a Felony) is a maximum of 5 years, with eligibility for parole being within a few months, with the prosecuted serving typically no more than two years. That Includes Negligence, Substance abuse, etc. as factors...
If this had actually happened, the Prosecuted would likely serve no more than three months in jail, or 120 hours of Community service coupled with a small fine.
