Hello people of the United States I am from Australia and I have no business in your politics but i swear to god if he doesn't get ellected we will all be ashamed of you he is the best candidate you've had in years, don't take him for granted.
#2389 to #2367 - anonymous (01/13/2012) [-]
Is that so?
You do realize he also said there was going to be a major race war, right?
Also, the last time the US switched to the gold standard, possession of non-jewelry gold was deemed illegal. That meant no gold coins and no gold bars.
Reducing taxes and cutting military spending while we're in a war is the worst thing to do, because we need to pay our bills somehow and we can't just do that right now when our debt is in a bad situation (like it always was).
And so far his platform has basically been dodging double sided issues and saying what the people want to hear with presentation that doesn't show all the facts.
Yeah, you have no business in politics alright, because you don't have all your facts straight.
User avatar #2398 to #2389 - durden (01/14/2012) [-]
Every candidate has something sombody doesn't like about them none of them can be perfect if everyone expected them to be there would never be presidents, primeinisters ect, because people would just be nit picking.
#2400 to #2398 - anonymous (01/15/2012) [-]
I don't mind that people side with a candidate, but when they act like he is the next Roosevelt to the point they call out his name EVERYWHERE I look, when his platform is just as flawed as everyone else's, that's where I have to draw the line.
User avatar #2390 to #2389 - dratyats (01/13/2012) [-]
the us never switched to a gold standard, we switched away from it and went to a fiat currency. you say cutting military spending is a bad thing and in the next sentence you say we need to pay our bills and our debt is bad. you have contradicted yourself repeatedly in your comment.
#2399 to #2390 - anonymous (01/15/2012) [-]
Military Spending = Paying for our Military.
Currently in a War = Constantly having to pay for our military
Debt = Lack of funds
Cutting Military Spending = Not being able to pay for our military, adding to the debt, and making it farther worse.
My comment never contradicted with itself.
#2405 to #2399 - anonymous (01/18/2012) [-]
Get your facts straight before telling others to get theirs straight.
Ron Paul does not want to cut Military wages, he wants to END THE WARS, stop the spending on the pointless wars, not only that but to stop funding Pakistan and other countries. Furthermore you're forgetting the fact that Ron Paul gets more military donations then ALL of the candidates (including Obama). Does that say something?
#2407 to #2405 - anonymous (01/20/2012) [-]
The other facts and flaws still stand.

so far my vote is for Ron Paul. lets see what Colbert says tonight
User avatar #2368 to #2342 - durden (01/13/2012) [-]
Thank you, you reminded me he was on.
#2315 - anonymous (01/13/2012) [-]
So basically Ron Paul has said everything that everyone wants to hear and avoids the sensitive issues which have a double sided opinion (I.E. Abortion).
And this makes him a super hero politician?
Every prediction he made was true? Even the one about the apparent race war that was going to come? Because I don't see any blacks, whites, hispanics, etc. going to arms exactly.
#2408 to #2315 - petesneckfat (02/12/2012) [-]
When it said everything he said came true I think it was talking about a speech he made in 2002 about the upcoming foreign and economic problems.
#2407 to #2408 - anonymous (02/22/2012) [-]
"Everything he said came true" and "Everything he said in a speech" are two different things. One is an inflated attempt at getting support through hype that is easily debunked, and one is what it actually is.

he is definitely the best GOP candidate to run against Obama
User avatar #2300 - WakaTakaBang (01/13/2012) [-]
I'm not too keen on lowering income tax to around 10%. I don't know if everyone completely understands the gravity of that decision.
#2409 to #2300 - petesneckfat (02/12/2012) [-]
He wants to lower the income tax to 0%, not 10%. You are entitled to keep the fruits of your labor and the government should not be taking your hard earned money.
#2408 to #2409 - anonymous (02/22/2012) [-]
I'm guessing then you don't want to be defended by the Police, or if a Fire was to ensue, have your house rescued.
Or have street lights. Or traffic lights. You know what, let's just take away everything you don't seem to be appreciating and see how that works out. Maybe you can take all that fruit of labor to pay the damage that would ensue.

Taxes are needed to pay for things that are public access. That's literally the most basic know-how of government there is. You don't honestly think they just print the bills up and use that to pay it off, do you?
You can't just cut the largest amount of revenue the government has and expect a few "unnecessary spendings" to be removed to cover the loss. It's not as simple as he's making you believe it to be.
User avatar #2411 to #2409 - WakaTakaBang (02/12/2012) [-]
That's a beautiful statement, but I don't know how he's going to make up for lost money that should be going to the government. We can't bitch and moan that taxes are too high AND that the countries economy is *raspberry noise*.
#2412 to #2411 - petesneckfat (02/12/2012) [-]
Well when you cut out the income tax (which is about 50% of the government's revenue), you're gonna have to cut out a lot of the wasteful spending as well. His whole "Plan to Restore America" balances the budget so no need to worry that cutting the income tax will cut the government's revenue because other unnecessary spending will be cut too.
User avatar #2413 to #2412 - WakaTakaBang (02/12/2012) [-]
What I don't like about cutting such a large amount of cash from taxes is that, well, it cuts the governments intake. The scary part for me is that I don't know what Romney considers "unnecessary spending". He could say he's going to make a few "benign" changes and that's it, but what if that's not enough for him? Will he dip into public schools? Hospitals/roadways? It's a difference in opinion that could screw us over.
#2414 to #2413 - petesneckfat (02/13/2012) [-]
Romney? Do you mean Paul?

By the time 2014 rolls around, these race wars and wealth wars are going to happen as in-fighting in the nation of America, as he said. Shit the race stuff is already starting. I'm proud that Ron Paul is going to be my first vote.

No, you're getting pinkieed down for stating something as ridiculous as a race war is going to occur and supporting it with nothing more than a "truestory look it up", which comes up as nothing.
User avatar #2328 to #2324 - Ninjabears (01/13/2012) [-]
Should come as stated and mentioned by Ron Paul. I'm not being a fuck.
#2331 to #2328 - anonymous (01/13/2012) [-]
Just because it was mentioned by Ron Paul doesn't mean it's true. It's easy for Ron Paul to say something like his other predictions, because the signs were right there.
There is no further evidence regarding a Race War. A wealth class war maybe, but considering how the OWS protests are going, it's doubtful.

By the way, please don't think I believe you to be a fuck.
#2313 to #2307 - anonymous (01/13/2012) [-]
Is that so? Because there really isn't anything close to a race war popping up.
User avatar #2310 to #2307 - romanaround (01/13/2012) [-]
Im sure you can try :P... I kind of thought race relations were improving.. who will be fighting whom?

User avatar #2290 - romanaround (01/13/2012) [-]
I don't think most people posting in favor of Paul realize that he is more than just a candidate that supports weed and wants to cut military spending... he also wants to go back to the gold standard and remove any kind of labor protection law currently in place.... I mean come on now... just because he isn't bought and owned by a corporation doesn't mean he is inherently going to act selflessly... tax the rich more than the poor especially this rich Ron Paul fucker
#2410 to #2290 - petesneckfat (02/12/2012) [-]
Rich? He returns a lot of the money he makes in a year to the treasury. And if he's president he wants to lower the president's salary to $40k a year because it's the average American's income :)
#2311 to #2290 - anonymous (01/13/2012) [-]
Tax more?

How much money do you think the government spends each year? Taxes can't be the answer, you can tax the rich 100% it wouldn't be enough to cover the debt.

And the gold standard prevents inflation, so that you can't be fake taxed through the printing press. Gas used to be 5 cents, why do you think prices on everything has increased so much if it's become more abundant? Inflation bitches.
#2382 to #2311 - jrook (01/13/2012) [-]
actually if you taxed the rich at the rate that was in place before george w bush it WOULD Fix the entire problem. There would be an annual income and over years it would pay off the debt. Taxing the rich 100 percent would fix the problem probably within 2-3 years assuming they dont leave or die or whatever.
#2322 to #2311 - anonymous (01/13/2012) [-]
Saying that taxation wouldn't help the debt is like saying water wouldn't stop a fire. If the fire is too big, yes, it can be difficult to stop, but that doesn't mean it won't diminish it enough to prevent further damage.
Besides, the taxation for the rich used to be a LOT heavy in the old days, especially with Eisenhower, where it reached up to 90%.
#2350 to #2322 - swagbot (01/13/2012) [-]
Jesus fucking christ you're a fucking idiot. Read this, and then don't come back to the Internet until you get wiser.

Yes, IF politicians TOOK our money with taxes, and the gave it back in some 'Magically Smarter' way, then the economy would get 'better'. But let's look at what really happens:
1) They spend it on tons of unrelated shit [social security debt, wasteful military spending, INTEREST ON NAT'L DEBT whatever the fuck that is etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.] So the money is gone - OUR tax money is literally spent on nothing
2) EVEN IF our gov't gave back 100% of the money they took in taxes (for "Stimulus"), why do you think they know how to give money back in some 'magical way' that will improve the economy?

You stupid people have a notion that big Fat-cat businessmen 'steal' all of our money and take it out of the economy, but MOST businesses create jobs and innovate to create wealth. The government is the one stealing money and literally draining it OUT of the U.S. economy through Nat'l Debt payments. Do some research, Ron Paul hater.
User avatar #2317 to #2311 - romanaround (01/13/2012) [-]
first of all debt has nothing to do with the economy.. (without cutting anything) yes a progressive tax WOULD solve our debt problem.. The gold standard is prone to inflation as well.. all currency is by nature completely worthless, even gold.. gas is more abundant but demand has skyrocketed so thats why the price is high.. we tried the gold standard and there is a reason we left it.

about the abortion thing, ya he saying he'll leave it up to the states but he wants to pass a bill saying that the zygote is a human being, thus making abortion murder, i.e. abortion illegal. not a hater just don't cut out the rest of the info.

User avatar #2279 - djponthree (01/13/2012) [-]
Inb4 Documents are found a century later stating that Ron Paul should have one, but the government rigged the ballet and the guy who became president was a complete dumb ass. I really hope Ron Paul wins, but at the same time that's what I believe will happen. Maybe I'm just too worried.
#2275 - sidewayshats **User deleted account** (01/13/2012) [-]
Wait, so is he against abortion or not?
User avatar #2309 to #2275 - RequieminMortis (01/13/2012) [-]
He's against abortion in any form, but at the same time doesn't think the federal government should have any power to decide whether it's legal or not. So his solution is to let the states decide, knowing full well that a good number of them will make it illegal the first chance they get (my home state of California is one of the few exceptions- Roe v Wade didn't affect us, since abortion was already legal when it went into place).

Honestly, Paul's not that great of a candidate. His few good ideas are offset by a lot of no-so-great ones, and he's actually pretty Fundamentalist when it comes to his religious views- not quite on the level of Perry, Santorum or Bachmann, but not much better than them either.
User avatar #2292 to #2275 - romanaround (01/13/2012) [-]
ya he is against it but he hides from the issue saying 'states should decide'
User avatar #2314 to #2292 - RequieminMortis (01/13/2012) [-]
Which, like I said, basically just translates to "the states'll make it illegal anyways, so let them decide".
User avatar #2320 to #2314 - romanaround (01/13/2012) [-]
yep... and I agree with your other comment but I dont think being a creationist qualifies as just "pretty fundementalist"... Paul is an ideological guy both in religion and fiscal issues.. we need practicality and fairness
