Yeah, if all your friends are retards.. I befriend only people I know and want to stay in touch with. It's a great fucking site dude ! You can avoid idiots more easily on there than in real life.

Well it has it´s place on the internet but I personally prefer Skype where I really stay in touch with friends eg calling them, social sites just give me the illusion I do because they´re in my friends list.
I don´t see where it´s better than Skype.

I actually wear glasses but they are from a german brand called "Krass". You´ll have a hard time poking through them

I have around 270 friends on facebook, people I more or less care about (okay, some of them are complete retards who i only keep on my friends list for the lols). If I were to only stay in touch with the people I wanted to keep close to me, sure, i could exclusively use Skype and then talk to them once in a while. half an hour on skype with each of the 50 important people each week. Thats a lot of time.

on facebook I know what is happening in all 270 persons' lives and can easily send a PM to them to which they can respond when it is convenient, and that way i can stay in touch (just a bit, not as closely as with skype, I know) and if I feel like it. easily take up contact again, and perhaps then use skype with them.

It's just a convenient tool for staying in touch with people who aren't really important to you, but you want to know what's going on in their lives and it's easy and quick to take up contact with them. Also it's great for sharing pictures.

It seems we have different opinons then, I wouldn´t want to see the crap of so many people (can facebook even display the updates of so many people properly? You must miss a lot) I barely know if it were for money.
Skype also functions as a messenger, no need to talk to everybody half an hour (they can´t be that important if you wouldn´t even want to).
Afaik Skpe has a pretty good facebook integration where you can diretly dial and message your facebook "friends" in a dedicated list, just letting you know

It's just a question of preference then.. but it also depends on the preferences of the people you know.

I would have a hard time staying in touch with the people I know without facebook, it's where we arrange meetings, parties and events and such. If I were to stop using facebook, I would miss out on lots of that stuff, not because people would just forget about me, but because when you invite, you go thrpough your friends list and check off the people you want invited: If i'm not on the list, it is possible they would just forget I wasn't and forget to take that into account. It's pretty much a must in my circles to have facebook.

But hey, the people you know are probably different from the types I know, so yet again, it's just a matter of preference.
