Is it just me or can you use a fucking smartphone for far more things that a gameboy? There you got your answer. Dumb bitches be gone!

My android phone can last about 2-3 days. You just have to pay attention to which apps are running in the background, and kill them with an app killer.

more computing power on the iphone than nasa had in 1969. so i can see why it would drain rather quickly

to be fair, nasa only had a combined 64 Kbytes of ram in 1969, thats about what the original gameboy had. so not really a valid excuse. your iPhone sucks ass. my droid is better.

My DS has a fuckin' long battery life. I left it in my closet for about 7 months when it was on low battery, and it seems it like regenerated it, because when I found it and turned it on it was on almost full.
#57 to #49 - anonymous (01/07/2012) [-]
perhaps it was from the heat.

Sweetie, that is NOT a Gameboy.
User avatar #62 to #47 - madconductor (01/07/2012) [-]
Yes it is, that is also a Gameboy, they are just different models.
User avatar #63 to #62 - thatarmybrat (01/07/2012) [-]
Haha... I'm aware that they both are. I was being nostalgic and sarcastic.

I just picked up my GameBoy to check this (haven't played it in around 3 years) and sure enough, FULL BATTERY! But it seems if I leave my iPod for 30 min it will be dead...

Well if you take into consideration, the iTouch has to handle tons of processes while also maintaining your brightness, and also using a lot of the memory to store data and hold applications open in the background so when you re-open them you're right where you were. It's also a bigger and (usually) brighter screen. The iTouch also uses some of the aforementioned memory to process input on it's touch screen.
#39 to #37 - airplaneseightteen (01/07/2012) [-]
thety dont really do much of anything. if you knew how they ran, the processes are miniscule, so the battery shouldnt be as bad as it is.

and btw, i wouldnt call it an iTouch on the nets, youll get bitched at by mac fanboys who think they need to yell at anyone who doesnt call it by its official name. personal experience.
User avatar #41 to #39 - thechosenwon ONLINE (01/07/2012) [-]
Um, first off...In OP's picture, that's an iTouch. That's what it's called.

Second, my point was that the Gameboy does not hold as many processes. Also we all know that Nintendo prides themselves on a sustained battery life.
#43 to #41 - airplaneseightteen (01/07/2012) [-]
no. it isnt called an itouch. its an ipod touch. UMAD?

well, yes, of course, i totally get that. but still, my point along with yours is that these iphones, ipod touches dont do shit for processes, and SHOULD last a lot longer.

in consideration, the ipad (giant ipod touch) only has a long battery life due to the 2 huge batteries. seriously. if it takes your huge ass batteries to compete with the little one in my evo, that still lasts longer, then id say you havent a fucks clue how to make a battery.
User avatar #46 to #43 - thechosenwon ONLINE (01/07/2012) [-]
Dude, you are so fucking clueless....do you realize how much more the iPad handles? And the screen is massive. You're not supposed to have something last that long on a tiny device that has a composition of 3/4 screen. If you want a long battery life out of an apple product, go get one of their laptops. It says that they only last about 12 hours not charging. But my friend normally gets 20 hours on a full charge out of his.
User avatar #54 to #46 - davidispissed (01/07/2012) [-]
my 12" android tablet lasts 3 days and im on it constantly, it has 4 rechargable BUTTON CELL batteries. suck it, Apple aint worth shit.
#48 to #46 - airplaneseightteen (01/07/2012) [-]
WHOA A WHOLE 20 FUCKING HOURS. i get WEEKS off my evo shift. FUCKING WEEKS. and im not putting up with some fucking useless mac product.

and it doesnt handle more idiot. its a fucking ipod touch with a bigger screen. go look it the fuck up.

and mac laptops. fuck. that. if i wanted to suck a dick, sure, ill buy one. but im not a Ron Paul hatergot.
User avatar #52 to #48 - thechosenwon ONLINE (01/07/2012) [-]
I never said I had a mac, and 20 hours for a computer is really good. Apparently you are a Ron Paul hatergot because I just said the iPad has a MASSIVE SCREEN you dumb fuck. Learn how shit works then come start fights on the internet. And the evo shift sucks ass.

A huge part of Nintendo's handheld success is based upon the battery life of their systems. It's the biggest reason why they dominate that area of gaming today.
User avatar #34 to #33 - Taco Thunder (01/07/2012) [-]
more so because nintendo is the only company still making games simple enough to be played on a handheld, other games are too complex

It's the 4th gen iPod.

Stupid anon.
User avatar #28 to #25 - iRetaliate ONLINE (01/07/2012) [-]
It has a Music app and a Video app. If it were an iPhone, it would just have an iPod app...

thats an iPod dude not a Iphone. i didn't even have to look twice
User avatar #22 - SheWolfie (01/07/2012) [-]
actually an iPod is rechargeable but a gamebou uses regular batteries rechargeable things generally save you money on buying new batteries but then they hold less charge than the reg. AA batteries, the value of rechargeable items increase even though technically if you want more charge, go for batteries, if you don't want to buy batteries, go rechargeable
#23 to #22 - anonymous (01/07/2012) [-]
Not entirely, he was showing an SP which came with it's own AC adapter, allowing for recharge a recharge station, much like an iPod. The reason it lasts longer: iPod has to click over so many tasks whilst using backlighting, sound and images, where as an SP just has to run the 32bit ARM already encoded on the cartridge, but you're still right when it comes to GBA.
(nice name BTW)
User avatar #24 to #23 - xKaLiFx (01/07/2012) [-]
It's not the batteries so much, nor the tasks they must perform.

Put your phone into "Flight Mode" and see how long your phone lasts. :)

Smartphones have constant datafeed that a gameboy does not so it wouldn't surprise me if your gameboy's battery lasts longer.
